| So what do we have?
Horne - not the player he once was, currently not 100% and certainly not a scrum half or even a dictating Half back
Washbrook - Never a half back of any sort IMO
Tansey - Never seen him play at either H/B position but looks to have a good pair of hands and a bit of nouse
Whiting - can't recall seeing him to many times play for us there but spent most of his Feth days at S/O
Turner- Again never seen him play there, but has done at junior level I believe.
Hall - recall him playing there once against Wakefiled I think, seemed ok.
Any others?
What about lads plying their trade in the lower leagues. One that jumps out for me is Jamie Rooney, an out and out H/B who when called upon would surely offer more than the above. Not a world beater but could be a decent cover in our squad, can't be on much at Barrow.

| why on earth are you worrying about "bringing in" more players already!! god sakes we lost by 2 points against a strong crusaders team and terrible conditions!! if fitzy had scooped over that conversion then it would of been a fitting draw!! to early to even slate or think about bringing in other players!! 3 games in and your flapping already sort ya head out we cant win them all!!!

Not got an issue with losing..however I have an issue with the manner in which we lost, so it is an issue, we have had 2 seasons of tosh!! so forgive us but we have every right to be concerned.

| I think we need to explore other options before we consider bringing any-one in (although we should activley be seeking a young h/back to develop any-way)..
I think we need to try Tansey and maybe young Turner, and maybe Hall first.
This weeK i would like to see Tansey & Turner, risky I know but it is the only way we are going to find solutions, as the fact is Long will miss a few games.

| good good!! we lost 1 game and the manner we lost it fair enough a few of the lads turned up with billy big heads thinking it was going to be a walk over!! lets see what happens in the next 3-4 weeks if nothing has improved then ill be concerned!!
and what about this

if he was any good (just like thorman) then surly salford or someone would of picked him up!! we all know since hornes inujury/illness he hasnt been the same but give the lad a chance 1 bad game doesnt constitute a dropping/sacking when he backed up tickle at saints and ran 40 metres before longy going in he was apparantly "back to his best" i just think we got caught being billy big heads and never got into the swing and for what its worth id put horney with turner if longy isnt back give the lad a chance hes not an england under 20s half back for nothing

Apart from Tansey, these have been the options that have not worked for the past two seasons when your scrum half has been missing.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club." Adam Pearson, FC Website 23-09-2011: |

| Washbrook was awful yesterday, Agar must take some credit for noticing this and puttig berrigan there in the second half, we need to try something different than washbrook when Long is injured.
We also have to many players who think they can break the line on there own, washbrook one example, we need a scrum half who actually passes the ball

Yep, Im sorry for not noticing that, should have cause I have just mentioned it on another thread lol
Yes Turner could probably do a decent enough cover at off-half but thats not the problem at FC, its covering your scrum half when he is missing.

I'm not saying it isn't but it is a worry when Long is unable to play.

| Judging on Turner's performance at half back against Sheffield he's no where near ready to hold that position down for Hull. He looked completely out of his depth, although I do think he looked good at centre in the derby.

Whilst Long is injured we should play Tansey at 7, no question for me. He brings pace, enthusiasm, creativity, spark and a kicking game.
So the question is who plays 6, well it should be Horne but if he is injured then we have several options:-
Whiting - Could be worth a look but will need to cover FB if Tansey is at 7.
Hall - Is an option but would much rather see him at centre.
Turner - Not much experience there but is an option (how did he go against Sheffield?)
Washbrook - Not his ideal position but can do a job there and will be better for having a game under his belt
So for if Horne is injured then it's:-
6) Turner or Washbrook
7) Tansey

| If Horne is fit, it might be worth starting him at FB, then trying out a Tansey/Whiting combo in the halves.
