It’s over a week since the first snowfall and the state of the paths and (some) roads around the city are appalling. After taking the daughter to work this morning and seeing 2 people fall flat on their backs; the 1st a pensioner who had a severe cut to the back of his head, the other gent luckily only hurt his pride.
I have seen people holding onto lampposts, railings and even parked cars to stop themselves slipping over, there’s also people walking on the roads due to (some of ) them being less slippery.
Does the council not have a duty of care towards their residents?

someone at work reckons that they don't clear paths anymore because as soon as they do they have to start taking responsibility for anyone falling on them. tbh i think that sounds pretty probably given the ridiculous compensation culture

Went in town today and youngest nearly slipped...sure it was icey...you expect to slip on ice....so you want the council to grit all over......as for your neighbours...did you offer to help them? |

Spot on, if someone falls on ice its force majeur/act of god, if it's on a gritted path it's the persons responsibility who gritted it. |

Simple answer-I expect them to at least attempt to help the situation

I have put their bins out and also brought them in again after the lazy bin men left them 300 yards further than where they found them. I have also been to the shops for them, that's not the point, these people are almost house-bound due to path clearing deficiences'" |
