Hull KR stand-off Paul Cooke has rubbished rumours linking him with a shock return to former club Hull FC.

Cooke caused uproar when he controversially quit Hull to join arch-rivals Rovers two years ago.

The move sparked a bitter row between the two clubs and Cooke was eventually banned for four months after it was ruled he had breached his Hull contract.

Given the furore, any move back to the KC Stadium would seem unlikely but that has not stopped the city's notorious rumour mill from raising the possibility.

Cooke, 28, said: "I'm quite happy as I am, I have got another year on my contract at Hull KR.

"We have not sat down as a club yet, but I didn't expect to.

"I am here for another year as far as I am concerned and I am not particularly worried about what anyone else is saying about me.

"Unfortunately people find it easy to speculate about what is happening in my life."

Hull have also distanced themselves from speculation they might seek to bring back Cooke, who joined the Black and Whites as a junior and won the Challenge Cup with them in 2005.

Coach Richard Agar said: "It's a stupid rumour and there are plenty of stupid rumours going around in this town."

Rovers boss Justin Morgan added: "Cookie is contracted for another 12 months with us and there has been no formal approach from anyone."

Why would you make a statement if its untrue? Surely you'd just ignore it?

I don't think it would happen, surely to god our board wouldn't be stupid enough to sign the edited again.

Rule denied this rumour in the strongest possible terms last week on KCFM. Sounds more to me like Cooke's trying to stir up some interest in himself. since there is none amongst his team-mates.

I think most of this stemmed from the Paul Cooke Q&A article in the HDM.

Still , where would be on these forums without rumours etc, it would be a very bland site.
