| Another nervy, nailbiting win.
I thought Danny Houghton went really well when he came on and Washy had his best game of the season so far. Calderwood continued his encouraging form. He is prone to the occasional mad moment but the sheer effort he puts in is great to see. He pops up everywhere and he is building up a promising partnership with Richard Whiting.
Thackray took the ball up well and Cusack and Dowes were their ususal relaiable selves.
Have to say I was disappointed again with Tickle, Thorman and Graeme Horne.
We need some good news on the Manu injury and hopefully Motu and Raynor will be back for the Wire game to enable changes to be made.
Could we just have a comfortable win every now again though, please?

| I thought R Horne and Houghton were the pick of our players. We were an improvement on the salford game and I think that calderwood is benefitting from having a better centre inside him. We're still playing too narrow for me and our 2nd rowers are pretty ineffective much of the time

| Bill Arthur was pretty damning about the style of rugby we play, athough I would take him to task over the assertion that we play "error free rugby".

Papered over the cracks for another week
We have scrambled to results against cas and salford playing some of the worst rugby i have ever seen from an hull fc side
If it wasn't for the man in the middle yesterday i think we would have got beat

| What does Thorman do ? His kicks were down FBs throat on their 20m , the kicks in goal on the last were in the air and easy to catch.
Just don't rate his work ethic and when will we ever kick a ball into touch from a penalty more than 15m down the pitch.

So we lose to Cas by a point and it starts "The Revolution" (still waiting for that by the way ), yet we beat them by 8 and it's thanks to the ref.
Priceless.

| Why is it thanks to the ref
1 dubious penalty is that what cost castleford the game, according to sky , they banged on about it for long enough afterwards. Funny how they forgot the decission in the first half when the castleford fullback actually had a foot on the goal line, they didn,t go on about that for half an hour after the game had finished.
Made me laugh when they interviewed terry matterson and he thought castleford had played really well, because Hull were awfull again, we look like a team with no confidence. But as shaun mc rea would say we got the 2 competition points.

| I'd say it was a better performance than the Salford game, so we're making some incremental improvements.
Richard Horne is definitely the best full back we have at the club and should remain there at least until the end of the season, if not beyond.
Our right hand side looks good now with Calderwood and Whiting - solid in defence and threatening in attack on the few occasions they are given the opportunity.
The left hand side is constantly targetted by opposition teams and we seem to leak most of our tries on this side. We need to get Raynor back and Yeaman and Manu need to tighten up in defence (if Manu is fit).
Washy is starting to look decent, but Thorman is simply a waste of a shirt. Is there a worse half back in Super League?
The main problem I see with the forwards is that we have no impact whatsoever. We have loads of 'workhorse' type players, but no one to come on for twenty minutes and bust a few tackles. Until this changes, we're going to struggle. If Crocker and Lauaki are going to be a while, we need to get the best out of what we have available.
I'd have either Washy or Berro at 13 and the other one at six, with Lee and Houghton sharing the hooking role. I'd start with Tickle and Burnett in the second row and Manu on the bench. Radford offers nothing in the back row and I'd have him at prop or out of the side.
All in all, we managed to dig in and get a result when, at certain points, it looked like we might get beat. That's a positive to take from the game, but there's still a long way to go.

Yeah - a bang on the head.
Anyone who thinks that the ref had a significant impact on the result needs their bumps felt.
Or is that well-known whiner Terry Matterson.

So you don't think the free penalty he gave Hull was the turning point??

| Not a expert on the rules but i think the ref was right. Stand up play the ball don't fall on top of the marker when he is atempting to get back in position.
