| Outstanding effort from the team tonight, with ferocious defence and an attack that had clearly improved.
Great to see such a fast-paced and entertaining game at the KC (which was remarkable given the weather) and good to see a much improved atmosphere too.
Felt we were just a couple of players short tonight (Ellis & Holdsworth may have been the difference out there) and it was a massive step in the right direction.
the big challenge now is to not let standards slip, if we play like that every week we'll be in a lot better position come the end of the season.

| Best ive seen them play in to long time , I think if we had Holdsworth we would have won. Like i saud in another thread we have future England internationals in Crooks and Lineham.

| No disgrace in that at all.
To take on and compete with the best team in the league who were pretty much at full strength whilst we were missing two half backs and two first choice back rowers is a great effort.
Wigan certainly knew there were in a game tonight.

| Fantastic game from FC, brutal defence in parts, Lineham and Crooks look like forming a great partnership. Really enjoyable evening. But means nothing unless we back up against London. Ellis probably back and an outside chance for DJ.

that's the key bit for me, a half-hearted display against London puts us right back at square one. We've dropped too many points already this season.

| Gentle said in his interview that Briscoe was fuming that Charnleys try was given as he reckons he didn't get it down and foot possibly in touch, that along with what sounded like a touch down pass for their first try and i think it makes the result harder to swallow, great effort from the lads, let's hope we get some players back and keep them fit for the second half of the season and have a big push and see where we can finish!

| I read a post on here before saying 'we need to do what Wigan do' in terms of developing young players. I'd say you are but the challenge is now to keep them and keep them progressing. Lads like Houghton and Briscoe have been around a while and Crooks and Lineham look real talents as well but they need patience and a good team around them.
Lineham inparticular really impresses me. He's big, strong and quick and could develop in to a Ryan Hall style wingman. It's great for Hull FC that you've tied him to a new deal.

Crooks,Lineham and Houghton are tied to deals and are progressing nicely...the only way they can progress is by playing, which they are and they will have a good team rd them when we get players back...as for Briscoe...if you want him,you can have him...Lineham will be a far better player.
You have only been developing your own after yrs of buying Aussies but dont forget, when Pearson took over the youth set up was basically e under the other mob that run us and it will take us a couple of more yrs to develope the players we really need...since Gentle came we have blooded,Shaul,Lineham,Crooks,Nicklas(now gone).Bowden,Cunnigham,Hadley,Kent,Green,J.Briscoe so dont think we are doing so bad.

| Fantastic intensity and the type of game we've been crying out for. It's a long time since I've seen a Hull crowd give a standing ovation to a losing side

Good to see a game where the players gave there all and are fuming with there performance after only losing out to the league leaders..
Anyone take the bet at stadium. Hull had 12 Head Start something like 5/1 - 10/1 odds

Some pride brought back to the KC.

| The challenge is to play like that week in and week out. I'm thinking and hoping that we have the coach that can finally instil that into the players. Players like Ellis and Holdsworth will only strengthen our chances of doing that.

They fully deserved it, though, that's why. Couldn't believe what I was seeing when some started to move before full time. They earnt our applause and our respect tonight.

Spot on. We know we're capable of pulling performances out for the big boys, it's time we kept our focus in all the other games, too.
