Guys reading from afar i have to be honest and state this signing frenzy is a bit of a farce and will be glad when its over! granted Mr Pearson hasnt helpped with his July Interview but understand his reasons for his actions at the time. I agree a quality injection of personel with the correct quality, youth or mindset was required and more inportantly two halves with a running and kicking game between them, I think we have one of them at the minute and hope the other is shortly to follow then we can put recruitment to bed and focus on the task ahead.

What is really bothering me though is the lack of focus on the brillaint potential shown by the young guys brought into the squad last season, Green, Bowden, Crooks and Lineham and young Cunningham it pains me to see when people post these fantasy teams with the new player automatically in a position, why?! Tom Lineham is a brlliant prospect and Chris Greens form in the last few games was top drawer i believe they both have the potential to be internationals by the end of next season if there progression continues. I think we should focus a bit more on what we have and what they can be rather potential signings.

You are right about the fact that we have got great potential in the young lads, something people have mentioned. Many have said they see Lineham and Crooks as 2 and 3 instead of Crookes and Arundel. The forwards get better with more experience. As for them being internationals next year... maybe some in the knights squad but can't see them as full internationals for a few years but does look promising

This isn't something that's been overlooked on this forum. Everytime the players mentioned signed new deals it was met with positive responses and praise for PG not only giving them the chance to shine but see them in his team next year.

The half back point is 1. AP said we would sign a 6 and 7, a bold statement which most, including myself, would like to see come through. 2. Holdsworth can't be soley relied on, we've seen it in the past that we can't rely on one of the hàlf backs, to have everything go through Holdsworth as it will be easier to defend and what if he gets hurt. Very happy with Holdsworth but he needs a good 7 to go with him and with Chase falling through we just want to have fun speculating who it will be

We do see the potential in all the young players and next season is an exciting prospect but if you've observed from afar you'll know that people do like to moan. I try to stay positive icon_biggrin.gif

Crookes, Arundal, Holdsworth, Galea, Johnson. Not the frenzy that many were expecting with some on here speculating that up to 10 new signings were coming. Ellis was sorted in March and Pitts & Watts came early / mid-season to alleviate the release of McKinnon, J Ellis & O'Carroll.

As 666 states the youngsters you mentioned have been covered in several posts and will stand us in good stead. By internationals I'm presuming that you mean Knights? and one or two are possibilities but I think unlikely by the end of next season!! raw talent with bags of promise but even Houghton is still to break into the full international squad, and Lynch can't get a look in either.

I'm happy with the recruitment so far and as AP alluded to on Wednesday a couple of signings still to come, one of which is hoped will be a 7, ok not likely to be of Rangi Chase quality, but we tried all we could with that proposed deal.

Top 4 and a decent cup run will do me for 2013, pick up the missing pieces of the jigsaw in 12 months time (rather than signing someone now just for the sake of it, or to appease the fans that may feel dissapointed with the recruitment - AP/PG won't do this anyway) and then kick on again in 2014 with a real chance of silverware.

The squad is improving and that is all we can ask for. Sure it would be great to be sat here frothing at the mouth with the prospect of Marshall, Slater etc playing at the KC next season but signings like that won't happen til we prove ourselves as a club IMO. We tried to get Chase and it hasn't come off, but not through lack of trying.

I go into next year thinking the squad is already better then it was this year and fully expect us to improve on finishing 6th. The two signings which are expected to be made will finish the jigsaw off and we should have a strong squad for next year.

I am hearing though we are in negotiations to pay Seymour off and no new signings will be made till this happens. Retaining Aspinwall and Mcgoldrick plus a new Scrum half will rely heavily on this.

Ellis, Mcgoldrick, Watts , Pitts, Crookes, Arundel , Johnson , Holdsworth and Galea were all not here at the start of the 2012 season but will be for the 2013 season. They are all good recruits and whilst some of them may not be stars yet they have the potential to be in the future. If you think of all the youngsters who have gained first team experience this season and will be squad members next season you can't deny the fact that AP and PG are improving this squad as promised. Just be patient and get behind the team, do our part in showing the worlds best this is the club to play for.

These type of signings wont happen for a very long time again in SL, due to the salary cap in the NRL and the exchange rate.

It's the first time in years that I cant remember a SL club making a big name signing for the NRL.

Twitter - @MaddyHFC:

Fans are hung up on a Scum Half with very good reason. Watch our playoff defeat to Warrington and look at what we lacked...a kicking game, creativity and some game management. We've lacked it for a while and most fans in RL know what we lack. Having leaders such as Ellis and Galea added to the squad will certainly help but we above all else needed new halves. Holdsworth will be very good but, he needs a partner.

still think Seymore can do a decent job for us mind if we cant find someone , told he goes under the knife with his knee this coming week to solve a long standing issue , who knows we may then see the Seymore i remember from the NRL!! which in fairness 2 years ago was class

We finished 6th with a slim squad loads of injuries, we've made good signings what's boosted the depth of the squad, Horne wasn't bad at fullback he'll be better this season if we don't sign anyone else, Pearson said 2 more coming in, so lets not panic, without the stupid mistakes and injuries we would of been top 4, stay calm and trust gentle and Pearson

My god, talk about archetypical Hull fan. Have you actually watched us for the last 6 years? Potential is the most cliched word in sport. So why exactly have we a lack of focus on the "brilliant potential" you point out? IDIOT

The OP has merely presented his own reasonable opinion for the purpose of stimulating debate. You don't agree? Fine, that is what a discussion board is all about. Was there really a need for the personal abuse?

Are you his mum? Do you regard typing the word IDIOT in BLOCK CAPITALS as personal abuse....lol? Read the post, it is full of conjecture and supposition. In the Agar and Hetherington tenure Hull FC were the only club in 2011 not to blood an academy player. This year we have Lineham, Bowden, Crooks, Green et al and the OP (is that forum speak for geek) attempts to create debate by making an ill informed comment about the clubs policy in bringing youngsters through because we signing proven quality players. (I am now going add an emoticon because it is trendy and hard)
