| Challenge Cup Final Replay, Elland Road 1982
Hull 18 Widnes 9
A fantastic night! My favourite Hull match. There must have been at least 30,000 from Hull there that night. I can remember thinking within a few minutes of the kick off that this was going to be our night.
Our two first half tries from Kemble and Toppo, both from the runaround move (one from a quick tap, the other from a scrum against the head - we won't see that again!) are still my two favourite Hull tries.
A great night and great singing from a brilliant Hull support!!

| I remember it well.
Set off 5 up in my Ford Capri (they were real cars) about 5pm, it was ing it down, the council had decided to put special roadworks on the motorway for us too make it a difficult journey....nothing changes.
Aquaplaining on the outside lane because we lost so much time in the jam.
Blind panic as we got near Elland Road because we were late as many thousands were.
Then sitting down behind the posts as the kick off happened.
Happy days......

| We didn't get in until just before half time bacause of the horrendous traffic and a large group of us were led around the edge of the pitch into the main stand.
Amazing night though and the sheer elation when Crooksy scored will never be forgotten.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.
Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony.
I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

My chief memory of the night is the absolute chaos outside the ground as 40,000 people tried to get through four turnstiles as kick-off approached. My brother and I got in about ten minutes into the game.
We was stood in Gelderd end and I remember the steady stream of people still pouring into the ground at half-time being led around the perimeter of the pitch.
Even though we scored four cracking tries that night, I never actually saw the ball being grounded for any of them due to crowd congestion the like of which would almost certainly be illegal in today's cosseted age.
One of the best nights I've had as a Black & White, just wish they came around a little more often than they have in the 30 years which have elapsed since that momentous night.
Wonder how long the thread will last before the usual suspects arrive to remind us the Cup wasn't won at Wembley

| We also got stuck in traffic on the M62 but saw an FC car come off the motorway near Goole (i think) and followed it all the way to Leeds and got there five minutes before kick off. Watched the game from the police gantry that ran around the back of Elland Road.
Strangely i dont remomber much about the game but i do the ceelbrations afterwards when the team ran around the pitch.

| Got picked up in Hessle at 6 after managing to blag an extra ticket for the car driver (I got 2 as of right as passholder.)
Parked the car at some industrial estate. legged it over a wall and squeezed ourselves behind the posts just before kick off - the same end where Crooksie crashed over near the end to seal victory.
Decided to stay in Leeds and celebrate (thus avoiding huge queues on M62) Half 10 closing time. Motorway empty for about 200 yards, then hit the B&W wall. At least it meant we managed several comfort breaks as the car crawled along.
Haircut 100 (Fantastic Day) seemed to be playing on a loop on the car stereo.
Got back into Hull about stupid o'clock, slept in my shirt, then wore it next day at the school that

| Still remember vividly Crooksy scoring the match clinching try, right in front of us and pumping his fist to the crowd.
It was a game we were definately second favourites, after been well beaten by Widnes in the premiership final and losing a good few front line players before it.
What a night!

| All I remember really is the certainty we were going to win, the atmosphere was fantastic and I remember my dad shaking like a leaf trying to light a cig. Some memories will stick with me for the rest of my life and that's one of them, being able to share with my dad and in 2005 sharing with my kids.

60404_1375165563.png Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proudly proclaiming `Wow, what a ride`:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_60404.png |

| My mates and myself got there at half five and the pub across road from the ground was packed, we had some cans in the car so I went back for them and when I got back the gates were opening so in we went. I had these eight cans down the back of my shirt and got a away with it. Brilliant spot behind the posts half way up the kop end. Even got two pints in the ground each. Fantastic occasion and I really felt for all those fans piling in even after halftime. A great night in our lives.

| I mangaged to get in 5 mins into the game but the traffic getting there I don't think I have ever seen again and don't want too.
Brilliant night, when they say the atmosphere was electric it was.
