Yesterday's penalty count has been referred to in a couple of threads so I've been trying to find out what the official ones were - particularly broken down by each half. Can't find them - does anyone know if they can be accessed and if so - where? Tried Superleague website but that seems to just give accumulated totals...or am I just being thick?

As sad as it sounds my dad counted them yesterday!
Half time it was 6-7 to you
Finished up 12-7 to us

It just goes to show how vital penalties are to winning games. If you take the saints game the other week. In the first half we gave a fair few away, that carried them down into the red zone, we cut these out in the 2nd half and also respected posession and we saw a different game.

I didnt go yesterday but from listening to it it seems the same thing happened but vise versa.

One of the penalties that was given against Hull was feet up in the scrum and they went on to score from it ..But its Ok to feed the second row icon_rolleyes.gif

That was probably the only dubious one for me, although why mess about at the scrum when you know your getting the ball anyway? Again down to poor discipline.

This is the frustration for me. I'm not saying the ref cost us the game - we certainly didn't do ourselves any favours at all - but I cannot believe that Hudds didn't commit one single offence in an entire 40 minutes. I thought we got one or two soft decisions in the first half, and just knew that the ref would go the other way in the second. I'm not even just blaming Child either - although I still think he'd be better off staying in to do his school homework - but it seems to happen regularly and, quite frankly I'm getting sick of the inconsistency of all the refs. It isn't a case of variance of interpretation from one ref to another, but rather a variance of interpretation of virtually identical "offences" within the course of a few minutes!

Still what should you expect from a collective (and I'm sure every fan of every team thinks the same) who between them can't give a remote estimate of ten metres and don't know the difference between forwards and backwards Thank goodness they're not driving instructors!

Firstly let me say I am not blaming the ref for the defeat, but as we're on the subject of refs then I have to say that they seem to get a "downer" on one team and penalise every thing they do. I thought Rovers got a rough deal at Warrington, as did Bradford when they went there. Also couldn't understand how Rovers had two in the bin against saints and then when Mr Cunnigham did a head high he stayed on the field - inconsistency!! It's been in the game for decades. How do we stop it??

I said on another thread it seems to be the way Child refs, he gives the dominant side most of the 50-50's and this just keeps the other team on the back foot. I think his calls are probably correct but it seems very unevenly handed. The game we played against saints was typical of this that saints got on a roll, the ref hammered us and we got less disciplined. Can really infuriate a fan as its bad enough seeing a game turn against you, but every bit of 'enthusiatic' defence gets pulled up you realise you've got no chance.

Would be intersting to see how many of childs games have ended up with very one sided scorelines (teams having long spells of scoring unanswered points) compared to other refs.

It could also be down to the dominant team not having to be niggly etc as the reason they are not giving away penalties. Granted Hudds probably did a few things to warrant penalties but in a less consistent way to what we did. If a ref blew for every single infringement we would soon be in RU territory.

Doesn't help when you have penalty machines like Radford playing.
