During the period of time between Thursday evening 2nd June and early hours of Friday morning,some mindless individual/s took it upon themselves to set fire to the Haworth Park Sports facility and in doing so caused the needless destruction of the club house,kit and equipment.For what reason one can only imagine. Childrens teams are operated from this club and apart from the upset and turmoil it has caused them,it has set the club back years financially in what is a hard time for all financially.

I have started this thread for two reasons,firstly in the hope that the perpetrator is caught and brought to justice and secondly that the business community of Hull could see their way to offering us assistance either in the form of tradesmen to help rebuild or financial support in order for us to replace playing kit,balls,bottles,bags & shields etc.

If any of you are genuinely interested in helping the club get back on its feet, I have all the contact numbers needed.

What's that got to do with anything?? So if you lived in a house that was a bit run down, it would be ok to burn it to the ground?

All i was stating was that it was once a poplular place but not anymore and it had seen better days.

Apologies, I read it that it didn't matter that it had been burnt down because it was not maintained as well as it once was.

sad news, i often go to haworth because my son plays there quite regular, i was last there a couple of weeks ago, hope it can be rebuilt.

I merely said it doesnt matter if it was a tip or not. It's still caused a local club money, with I think is tragic even if it isn't my club.

Heworth park is a facility used by loads of different clubs throughout the year and hosts festivals for kids as well as Finals days.

The Amateur Rugby Community in Hull are already pulling together and thanks to people who have given up their time already the roof is almost repaired as well as many other offers of kindness such as the brother offering to fit free carpets and decorators willing to lend a hand.

Sometimes it is better just to keep quiet dont you think?

The fact the insurance does not cover arson means that it is going to have to be a massive effort from the RL family to get the place back up and running.

Not much but if you start a donation thing i will chuck in a tenner. I have no affiliation to Haworth but my lad has played there a few times.
