| not coming on here trolling and a bit o/t , but I read in the daily express today that paul duffen is in talks with HCC with regards to expanding the KC to 40k, I was wondering what you guys thought of this?
I was having a few drinks with a mate who is a hull fan and his thoughts were that if the extension was to be built then hull should move out.
there is no doubt that the kc is a fantastic ground and its not too bad as it is now when halfull but a 40k stadium with lets say your average gate of 14k sure is going to feel empty( a bit like hudds ground) and lacking in atmosphere.
we both came to a conclusion that , since hull would have a ground that is perhaps above their needs and kr have a ground that is somewhat lacking then would it not make sense to build a purpose built rugby ground for both clubs to share(not near c.p or the boulevard so as to be neutral). we both figured a ground capacity of say 18k with both seated and terraced areas would probably suffice for a new ground but with an option to use the kc for derby days and any other games that might significantly exceed the new grounds capacity.
I know there are probably many people on both sides of the river that would baulk at this idea but it I feel it would make financial sense to both clubs (I would presume you get a rent increase at the kc if expanded?)to share the costs of one ground. our only worry was that if the two clubs were to ground share then you might start to get the "well why not merge" question coming from the rfl?!(which I am totally against)
whats your thoughts? (if any!)

| I reckon we should be lookin for our own ground elsewhere if the expansion of the kc gets the go ahead. Sitting in a stadium with less than half the seats filled would be garbage. The atmosphere is bad enough as it is at the moment. I would love to see boulevard redeveloped into something along the lines of halliwell jones at warrington.

a min kc around the costello area would be best, easy access off the m62 and a nice lookin area, pity its away from the boulevard area but at least you could have a nice park area or something. if the kc did get expanded, where would funding come from for a new ground?? cant see people wanting to invest in a losing team??

| Do we have to have this debate every other friggin week.
The KC Stadium is our home. Whether it remains at 25,000 or is increased to 40,000 we are staying there and thank God. It's the best RL ground in the country.

Christ
40K capacity will affect the Grade A licence, though, as some of the criteria are based around percentage capacity.

| i think the kc expansion will almost deffo go ahead given that city/duffen are likely to contribute a significant amount towards it.

I 100% agree , the kc is [ithe[/i best ground in the SL (but perhaps not the best RL ground in the SL) but would you want to be in a three quater full all seater ground ?
funding for a new shared ground , I have to agree , would be an issue though

| If he's relying on the council to pay for it he has no chance. Govt funding cuts means councils are gonna be even more skint than ever going forward. Only issue I can see is that the council may give the KC, or a potion of ownership of it, to city in lieu of them paying for expansion.
We had a 25 year agreement to play there and we're already 8 or so years in so 1/3rd of it has gone already

| The only way the KC's capacity will be increased to 40k is if the stadium is actually given fixtures for the 2018 world cup.
