| A home tie is all you can hope for in the QF.
I’d love an all Hull semi final. Play it at the KC, split the ground in half, 12,500 tickets each. Let’s get it on!

| As JTP says a home draw is the bonus. Looking at the teams don’t honestly see any team that we should fear. Head says KR are the obvious ones we want to avoid so no doubt in saying we’ll likely draw them away

I'd rather play them in the Quarters than a semi or the Final. Was talking to a Rovers supporter at work today and we both agreed we didn't want an all Hull final. I couldn't cope with the stress.

| Amazed they did a draw, I thought Rovers fans had already awarded themselves the cup on Saturday evening.
If we turn in a similar performance to Saturday, I don’t fear Rovers.

| Might be a suggestion that annoys some but why don't we make all the home ends unreserved for this one, gets everyone in early and ups the noise.
Can't see two derbys selling out so soon together anyway.

| Don’t know how the current cup ticket allocations work, but would expect they’ll be entitled to at least 6,000. We can give them the North Stand and NW upper and lower tier, then they can throw bottles on themselves.
Should just price it at no more than £15-£20 a ticket and make sure we have a full house!

I think they would have to do something as while both fan bases are in positive mood it would be £68 for tickets to both derbys and that's a lot for many at the minute. RL fans generally hate pay on the day games 'ow much' icon_smile.gifold

| That 2nd half against Wigan was better than anything Rovers have been able to churn out this season. Find that level of performance again and we go into the semis. A big injury or 2 for either team over the next couple of weeks could almost be what decides the game.

There will be an away allocation guide somewhere at the RFL. They’ll have to dust it off though as Challenge Cup crowds have been in decline, just like some clubs, since 1985.

Depends what the police and the Councils safety team say you know what they said about Good Friday!!! Safety is down to them don't fancy sitting in west lower if they are up top.

I’d suggested that Rovers would have the NW Upper and Lower tier, do they’d be throwing bottles at their own fans. NE Upper and Lower tier would be Hull.

| Probably the biggest derby in 40 years, since the John Player final at Boothferry Park, January 1985. We had to draw each other again at some point and so it is now.
If this draw had come out twelve months ago I would have being dreading a ritual humiliation on our own patch, but we are a very different brand of gravy in 2025 and after three dispiriting defeats last year we will come out looking for redemption on a pretty large stage and event for the City.
With Wire & Saints coming out together also, whoever wins our clash is really going to fancy their chances of going all the way. I'm feeling nervous/excited already and the draw's only just being made!! This is going to dominate the narrative for both clubs over the next three weeks, how are we going to concentrate on anything else!!!

I thought Wigan were the favourites, as they are unquestionably the best team in the game right now. Oh no, Wigan were knocked out of the competition at the weekend weren't they? Remind us all again who it was exactly who dumped them out of the competition on Saturday night, on their own ground and after giving them a sixteen point lead to play with? Have you ever considered going into the sports motivation business, you'll be a roaring success with patter like that!! Come on Mrs B, it's 2024 no longer, new broom, fresh air, new found positivity and all that. It's game on for black & whites everywhere!!

Possibly the most intense thread this board has seen since Cookie jumped ship to the dark side in 2008!!

| No lose game for us. Get pumped and it's what everyone expects to happen but if we do happen to pull it off, rovers will retain their crown as champion bottlers

Couldn't the RFL muster a decent time and channel to draw the Q/F fixtures . All seemed very very amateurish yet again by the BEEB.
Too busy showing Alan Carr and Amanda Holden having a jolly in Spain etc

Being brutally honest it was like amateur hour. Other than Chappers who’s a decent presenter it looked terrible and as if they were doing it from a cupboard under the stairs somewhere. It’s things like that, that also to nothing for the game other than highlight how little quality airtime/coveragd the game attracts.

| I don't know why there will be reams and reams of this no one expects us to win either game we are playing the top of the league cup favourite 'wonderkinders' of the Western world we can't lose as a club. According to their scribes on here it will take us 6 years to get back up there and were not even a quarter of the way through year one!!!! Lose and its what everyone expected win and well....... One thing is for sure though whoever loses the cup game will be well and truly stoked for the Derby match and even if we get through the first game without too much unfortunate incident the Good Friday one will be carnage.

| There’s absolutely no pressure on Hull. At the start of the season we were hoping to finish about 8th and were expected to lose at Wigan in the Cup. Now we look a better team than we expected to be at this stage. Some Rovers fans think they have won the cup already, lose to Hull and it will be devastating for them as this is their best chance to ever win the cup. Also waiting for them a week later will be a refreshed Wigan in the league, followed by Good Friday. They could have a brilliant or nightmare 3 weeks, but that’s is not our worry.
Personally I think we will win one of the Derby’s, but it either way a defeat doesn’t impact our season. I think both games will be close and the atmosphere will be amazing. It’s still early days, but there’s a similar feel to the late 70’s, early 80’s. Other clubs (except Wigan) are fading and both Hull clubs could find themselves competing for honours or at least finals in the next few seasons. Strap yourselves in, this could be fun!

Aka the 'we're not absolutely garbage anymore, please come back' pass

You start a new thread by posting at the bottom of the main club forum page. Weird way of doing it. May be a few dobbins buying FC mini season passes to get in to the derbies?????

| I always though that we missed a trick in the past when we had good seasons by not offering a mini pass at say the quarter way point or the half way point to if not attract the leavers back, to at least offer a reduced opportunity for new recruits to have a pass and to make an offer to convert people who go occasionally to watch regularly.

Think we only have Watts cup tied.

| I may well be in a minority her but I love a 'Derby' those Easter games against Dewsbury, Rochdale, Keighley etc. back in the mid-90's onwards (with 1997 the exception) certainly made me realise what we were missing...
I'm fortunate to have many close friends who are as passionate about the B&W's as I am about Rovers and we take every opportunity to make a day of these occasions (win or lose!) and April 2025 will be no different...
Little doubt the game will be on the BBC - A fantastic opportunity for some genuine banter and good humour to come to the fore and a chance to project a positive picture of the city on a national stage.....BRING IT ON!!!!

Broadbent will play FB, be interesting to see what stand or stands we give Rovers, have to give them 30%, but not sure if they is capacity of tickets available.

Pressure or not this is absolutely massive, make no mistake about that. If this draw had come about twelve months ago I think we all would have shrugged our shoulders and hoped to God that we were not humiliated again on our own patch and in front of the cameras. But a year is a very long time in sport and Hull Fc are a very different beast in 2025 (in case anyone hadn't quite noticed yet). These upcoming derbies, especially the first one, are anything but a foregone conclusion as some still seem to be assuming. I suspect that both camps are feeling come through this one and the big prize is within reach. It feels already like a Cup final at the quarter stage. Whoever comes out on top will be fired up to go all the way. We have home advantage, we owe them for our dreadful performances in last year's derbies and this competition genuinely feels like a wide open field with Wigan gone. Everyone, apart possibly from Salford, will be fancying their chances of lifting the old tin pot, so why not us? We've started the season well, we look fit, committed, organized, enthusiastic with an excellent team spirit, we've just dumped the tournament favourites out, so why not us? If there was no pressure on us then I would be sat here feeling as relaxed as can be, but I know for a fact that come kick-off time every one of us in the stadium will be on a knife edge with our stomachs doing flip-flops. It's games like this that remind me of why exactly I love and hate sport in equal measures, high octane derbies especially!!! Dread to watch it, but can't walk away from the spectacle! This is the biggest derby in 40 years, since the JP final in January '85, arguably the first time since then we've gone head to head with both teams looking like genuine contenders. There is an awful lot at stake here, not just temporary bragging rights, if the winners do subsequently go on to lift the trophy at Wembley in June this quarter-final win will form a significant part of the legend in the years to come. I have a feeling Cartwright and his team are going to be right up for this. The Challenge Cup is our only realistic chance at turning a season of quiet rebuilding/consolidation (in itself commendable after the horrors of 2024) into a magical year writ large in our storied history. It will also have the added bonus of putting Lassie back in her kennel after all the grief we have copped from the other side these past couple of years. A chance to derail their supposed march to the summit and extend the drought further. This is not the time for black & whites to meekly lay down and die, it is the time to rise up and face the enemy square in the face and vanquish them on the point of our sword!!!! Make no mistake, this is far from a foregone conclusion, it is a 50/50 call, it go could either way (us or them), the team that are fearless and grab the opportunity with both hands will be the one that marches on to even greater glory. I'll say it again, Hull Fc Challenge Cup winners 2025, WHY NOT US?

| I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself. We had a good win in france but they've been rubbish so far without tomkins, lost heavily to wigan, scraped past an abject hudds (who were the better team on the night and haven't won a game yet this year), were better against leigh and should have won it, then came back from a large deficit against wigan - had field stayed on I suspect we'd have lost comfortably.
I do think we'll be competitive, particularly if we can keep everyone fit between now and then, but I still have rovers down as strong favourites, probably 75% they'll win, 25% we can snatch it. They play the type of fast game we struggle against and outside backs and 2nd rowers are strong. Realistically we'd need them to be off their best and us at ours for us to win it

What I meant is the expectation will be much higher on Rovers than Hull, especially after their celebrations on Saturday night to our win.If Hull lose, it will be a big disappointment, if Rovers lose it will be a huge missed opportunity to end their trophy drought and will accelerate the re-alignment of dominance in the city. If Hull win, we will be confident of going on to win the cup.

Really hope you're right on that score. Unfortunately both clubs have their fair share of hot-heads who have caused bother in the past. Think the kick-off time may be vital. If it's a 17:30 start there will likely be some very 'well-oiled' individuals in the ground just itching for an excuse to kick-off. As you say, hopefully all will pass without incident (whatever the final score) and the City doesn't find itself on the Ten O' clock news for all the wrong reasons. The City sometimes gets a kicking from the national media for all the wrong reasons, let us hope this isn't one of those occasions.

Maybe, possibly. Don't think I would slant it 75/25 in rovers favour (55/45 at best for me) although I guess they do go in as favourites. This is virtually a standalone game, almost divorced from the rest of the season and in sport one-offs have a funny way of not turning out as expected. I still think this is our one shot at turning this year into something totally unexpected which then plays against their desire to end the 40 year drought (especially with Wigan now out of the way). I agree that we will need to be largely injury free and firing on all cylinders, but this is a one-off cup tie and it doesn't always pan out as expected in these cases. I've never taken anything for granted with our club, ever since I stood at Wembley, 7th May 1983. The cup can throw up oddities (as we know only too well) and I just feel this one is far less of a conclusion than other fans seem to be taking it.

| Definitely the biggest derby for 40 years. Who knows maybe the days of the 2 clubs regularly competing against each other in big games will become commonplace again.
Hull FC did exceptionally well against Wigan fair play. But you were getting hammered until Field went off and Keighran playing on one leg. And without doubt there was a Vegas hangover for Wigan. Even so there are 7 clubs grateful that you took advantage.
I'm fairly confident of a Rovers win, teams are struggling to get out of their own half and you will be coming up against a defence better than anything you have faced so far.

Rovers have conceded 40 points v Wigan’s 47 in the league. Wigan have played stronger teams, so I wouldn’t see Rovers as a better defence. I would rather play Rovers than Wigan any day.
It only needs one sin bin or sending off incident to change a game. You’ve had it one way for a season, but we are becoming a different opposition and our wingers

In the league, Wigan have conceded 47 pts v stronger opposition compared with Rovers 40. I would rather play Rovers any day of the week than Wigan.

One thing is for sure though whoever loses the cup game will be well and truly stoked for the Derby match and even if we get through the first game without too much unfortunate incident the Good Friday one will be carnage. odds on there will be at least two sent off

I'm not worried about making yards, or even about scoring points. You won't contain big Herman (you just won't, nobody does), and with Knight, Ashworth, Asiata, Cartwright and the 2 wingers we have plenty of guys capable of getting over the advantage line. Maybe you will be the best defence we've faced so far, but the way Asiata and Sezer are linking I think you'll find us the best attack you've faced this year (Saints were very one dimensional against you I thought). The bigger concern for me is dealing with your ruck speed and runs from DH. Fingers crossed for Mickey Mac playing big minutes.

[/quote Some good points and I admit that Ese Ese, Sezer, Asiata and Lewis have been outstanding. The player that has impressed me the most is Sezer. The squad Rovers have built doesn't have any weaknesses at all though and if you can't defend you don't get in. That's the difference.

Of course they have weaknesses. All teams in all sports have weaknesses. Such hubris.

I think its the grand national is that week so Beeb will be plying us with horse sh17 for hours either side of the game . Isn't the horse racing now on ITV? In which case our game will be in direct competition with it. A shame as I still like to watch the National, a great sporting spectacle. Also, unless the BBC up their coverage standards of recent weeks, we'll look like amateur hour again. The games they've shown so far this year have felt like a throwback to Grandstand 1975 when they used to shoe-horn the second half of games into a spare half-hour during a Saturday afternoon. Our game last Saturday had Tanya Arnold and Kevin Brown doing about three different jobs apiece! Is this a part of the cutbacks in BBC sport I wonder.

Prime time on a Saturday afternoon, hopefully we’ll sell the stadium out. Hull Live seem to think Rovers have to be given 7k tickets (30%) which is a logistical dilemma. Remains to be seen what the Police demand.

Remains to be seen what the Police demand. How many have they been allocated for Good Friday (presumably North stand only)? If the extra overspill means upper West then, as you say, it may pose a logistical dilemma given recent experience.

| Police and any safety concerns would over rule any rfl rules. Without their approval there will be no game.
It's a shame rover have so many Bell end supporters as the atmosphere is better the more away fans there are

| 17k sold for Good Friday so even with the restrictions tickets are flying.
And whisper it quietly it not hard for Rovers fans to get tickets for West Upper if they ask a Hull ticket buyer nicely. The advantage of this system is the Hull fan can verify if the Rovers fan is a knuckle dragger or not.

If we are being honest a lot of the games in the SL era have been non events for those outside the city like 6th vs 10th with neither side going near Old Trafford.

| No news on tickets yet so I'm guessing there is some disagreement/discussion going on. No easy way to give rovers a decent allocation that isn't above home supporters unless they hand over the east stand which won't go down well

| I think throwing bottles and drinks into a family area in the west stand from behind makes it hard to allocate rovers up there again simple because of the jeopardy issues if the police agree and something happens again they’d be in it and they won’t risk that. On the issue of both games it’s such a shame for all the genuine rovers fans (and despite what’s said on here there’s plenty) who can’t get tickets. It will be interesting to see how it’s resolved.

Got to admit (for those of us around) the early 80’s were brilliant for rugby league in Hull. Six all Hull finals, 2 played at Boothferry Park, plus 3 1982 Aussie Tour/Test matches. 3 league titles, and runners up slot. Sell outs at every Derby. Original Craven Park could hold 16k. So on top of the local rivalry, we were in direct competition for everything. Happy times.

| £20 tickets, pass holders can buy 6 tickets and will have a priority period...but they are not reserving pass holders seats which I can see causing some friction on game day if someone has 'stolen' someone's seat.
I understand why they are restricting Rovers tickets given how bad it was in 2023 but I'd also like to hear from the Council how many derby games do we need to shows things are back under control again? Most years we won't sell out the home ends at a Derby and the game needs all the money and ticket sales it can get.

Apart from the 2010 play-off game, this one feels like it's all on the line for both clubs within the same derby, a real winner takes all feel to it. As you say, too many of the derbies post-2006 have had a mid-table air about them rendering them of only passing interest to neutrals. Not sure how my nerves would stand up to cup final derby these days when everything really would be at stake, but it would be nice to find out!

In todays world of where there’s blame there’s a claim no one will want to put their head on the chopping block be it the SMC, Council, Police or the RFL in terms of sanctioning the go ahead if the proverbial hit the fan again. Sad but thems the facts and once again a minority of eejits have ruined it for the majority of decent fans. Safety concerns will always be an easy out for those with the power.

Lets have top4 clashes, semi finals and finals. If we are being honest a lot of the games in the SL era have been non events for those outside the city like 6th vs 10th with neither side going near Old Trafford.
As I said earlier Chris if you were in that West Stand when the missiles started raining down all of which was carried on video's which spread like wildfire you can see why no-one want sanction such arrangements again. It was scary with kids screaming and mothers covering kids heads and it's still raw. Just a shame for all the decent Robins fans who can't get tickets as again the few spoil it for the many!!

The stadium wasn't designed with derby's in mind either in 1999 the idea of both clubs playing a sellout Derby wasn't even in either fanbases dreams as both clubs were skint and clinging on for survival. Another issue is the SMC by design doesn't ever think outside of the box, if they make a profit they have to share it with the council so the mentality has for years now just been 'break even, don't do anything risky' which is why we've had no concerts, rarely get international rugby or football u21s etc anymore. Plenty of clubs seat away fans above home fans, Newcastle and Sunderland being two examples so it can be done.

Lots of gnashing of teeth east of the city over their allocation
Understandibly, but this isn't our decision. Looks like the smc(not surprisingly) and hcc have put the boot in. The amount of them that can't understand this is ridiculous. Mike Ross could walk down Holderness Road with an A Board saying 'I did it' and they'd still be commenting 'FC won't give us tickets' sigh

Wouldn't want that jeopardising.

I personally think it’s sad that an occasion such as this can’t be enjoyed as it should and many decent fans will miss out. What the KR fans seem to be missing is this isn’t going to be just a regular run of the mill derby like a league game. Emotions will be running higher than anything we’ve seen in years in what is a knockout do or die game. The chances of some kind of trouble are sadly pretty high and with the recent history both FC & KR no matter if they both pleaded would make no impact on this decision. They can bleat all they like about it but this decision has nothing to do with FC and more about a very small section of their fanbase spoiling it for the majority of decent fans.

Spot on, the council could put restrictions in place at Craven Park, Connexin Live or any venue in their area if they forsee a safety risk. One thing both clubs need to do is get on with prioritising fans with points for how many away games they've been to. For example anyone who took a punt on going to Catalan in the cold for round 1 not knowing if our bad days were over deserves to be higher up the queue for away tickets than me who rarely goes away. Football clubs have done this for years.

| A few idiots spoiling things for the majority as usual. Thankfully any lost income is pocket change for thirkill and hood so no damage done.
You have to laugh though, the latest one is that we are worried about them turning it into a home game for the hence the decision

| Makes me laugh their fans saying they'd outnumber us at our own ground, we still had higher attendances last season despite our worst season in living memory. It must hurt knowing they'll always be the annoying little neighbours.
After a couple of years most if their bandwagon followers will disappear and they'll be back to having 6K at home.

As well as the concern in the stands i have a horrible feeling that this game will boil over on the field so our players need to keep their heads,It will be difficult and i can see at least two players sent off

It seems to be coping with the Oasis reunion levels of demand, it's a Ticketmaster system so surprised they aren't trying dynamic pricing on icon_wink.gifold

Managed to get mine but the problem is people are buying up to 6 tickets per pass for others, only takes a few to buy another passholders seats and there's a ripple effect. Not sure why it was hard just to upload what seats are reserved, they do that every week for games. Other option would be make it all unreserved. Downside would be 10% seats have to be left free but upside would have been everyone would get there like 2 hours early and atmosphere would be better.

There will be a rush, as we only got our usual 20,000 ticket allocation.

| It's ok back ending home games but it then gets covered expensive for the walk ups and affects attendances - our usual end of season form doesn't help either

| I think it's something like five home games in six weeks in July/August. Good in a way in that it'll be summer but, yes, the walk up crowd will be affected.

| Your out of town investors will not draw wages or charge interest for 3 years.
But the 'power board' of local Hull KR enthusiasts are committed to making Rovers sustainable long after they are gone. They are pumping in money now but creating a legacy which will make Rovers a power for the foreseeable. It is possible because of Rovers owning their stadium AND the surrounding land. In 2 years time major retailers will be paying Rovers to operate on their land.
So for me the current Rovers dominance is just the start.

| Our board is worth half a billion quid. Other than Kilburn, who i doubt has put any cash in, which members of Rovers board appear in the Yorkshire rich list?

| Think Cust missing just about kills off our already very slim chance for next week. Not because Cust is an amazing player who was going to lead us to glory, but more for how it leaves us having to make positional changes. Both back up halves injured so unable to just slot another player in. Rapana is our best full back but also probably our best replacement in the halves, and Moy just hasn't looked as comfortable as last year to me so far, maybe down to less game time. Gonna be one hell of a challenge that last before losing Hardaker, Cust and Cartwright in the last week I'd have given ourselves a fighting chance at. Not so much now.

| Who is missing then?
Cust Cartwright Holmes Barron Sao Aydin Balmforth Charles Kemp Watts (has he done his achilles? Someone messaged e to say they'd heard he has)
And maybe burough?
So 10, maybe 11 missing. Horrific so early in the season and leaves us with no chance

Can see Bourouh sitting out the game courtesy of the MRP as would be more surprised if he didn’t. Think Cust will be a big loss as I said in another thread that although I’d like to see more in terms of a direct threat from him, think he & Sezer seem to work well as a pairing. Without having Balmforth, Charles or even Kemp we are really struggling for a player to slot in for Cust. Cartwright is another big loss for us, and think we miss the industry of Aydin too. Also shows the strides that Barron had made his absence has been noticeable. What was always going to a tough gig has just about become an impossible one after tonight’s injury’s

| Think Knight and Borouh could be in trouble too.
Eseh injured, Watts out.
Hopefully Balmforth, Aydin and Hardraker back.
Could dn with a Will Pryce boost, but would need be here by Monday to learn the plays

| kr don’t play till Sunday. Who’s to say they don’t have injury suspension issues. Not to mention short turn around. Huddersfield although poor are not going to lay down. Plenty of twists and turns yet. Posters forget the pressure is building on the unstoppables.

| His Bobness:
Your out of town investors will not draw wages or charge interest for 3 years.
But the 'power board' of local Hull KR enthusiasts are committed to making Rovers sustainable long after they are gone. They are pumping in money now but creating a legacy which will make Rovers a power for the foreseeable. It is possible because of Rovers owning their stadium AND the surrounding land. In 2 years time major retailers will be paying Rovers to operate on their land.
So for me the current Rovers dominance is just the start.
Well done. But what really matters is, are you lifting one of the two major trophies on offer? So far, you've fell short. Lots of promises that this is your year, so let's see what bacon you bring home by the end of it.

If Hardaker is fit, i'd play him full back. i know he's still young but i don't see anything in Moy, especially at full back.

Knight and Borough will get sanctions, no idea if it will be enough to be a ban. With Cust out I’d have fancied Kemp or Charles to step up in a better environment with a few senior heads around them but just our luck that they’re injured too. Our problems are made worse by Rovers having an easy game in which they can either rest players or just simply go through the motions for an easy win. Fear the worst to be honest can’t see anything other then a massacre especially if Kendall gets card happy. Just hope people look at it in the proper context and don’t let it sour the feel good factor at the club. It’s mostly just bad luck.

| Reckon we'll just have too many missing to compete, at full strength it would have been a pretty decent game I'd have thought but can only see rovers by 12-18 it's unfortunately.

| I like Moy but he cannot go to FB against KR. As others have said, he will be, if KR have any sense, be the target.
Got to hope that Amir and Liam don't get bans. Idiotic stuff from both of them knowing the CC game was next up.
Injury wise it's unbelievable again. I wish we could get a decent run of healthy players once in a while.
I am fearing the worse next week. KR are a good, well drilled team and I don't think they will take us lightly even with our injuries. We need a lot of luck this next 8 days, injury and judiciary wise. It would it be marvellous if Pryce popped up on the team sheet! It's very unlikely though.
Our next 4 matches couldn't be harder.

| Agree with all said in the last few posts. The win at Cas was not convincing, we look fatigued and picked up injuries. Rovers will stroll by us in the CC derby - they are the team in form at the moment - with a full team for us it could/would have been close; not so now. 20-30 point defeat in my eyes

| For me it's a game we can't lose really. Win and we will take over our own mantle of the biggest upset of the season so far, lose, with a bucket full of injuries playing the form team of the Comp so far and its totally expected by everyone including us lot.

You’re a little ray of sunshine, are you new to the forum? I’ve only read 2 posts from you and they’re almost the same. It’s one thing to appear realistic but another to be over critical. One thing FC have shown this season is they’re in it to win it.

I know he is a young lad but i just cant see anything in his play to say he will be a regular S/L player at full back as its only due to injuries that he is currently in the team and his lack of size and weight will always be an achilles heel.Maybe his future will be as a running nine.Rapana has to return to full back which leaves the problem of who to play at six. I am leaning to play Asiata at 6 so we can accomodate another forward at 13 If we can keep them out in the first 15 minutes and pressure them with the possession we have and vary our last tackle kicks we just might give them a game but can see Tom Davies primed to pick off one or two of Sezers long passes trying to find Louis Martin
