| Lots of talk about recruitment on and off the field, some people happy, some ok and some disappointed, I'm probably in the Ok bracket, was hoping when Myler was announced would be better, but it hasn't quite worked out, not from trying and add in Lam, Whitehead into our side, would change the whole dynamics of the squad. But can see the reasons recruitment hasn't gone exactly as I hoped.
So what are the realistic targets for next year, for me there are three.
Avoid the big defeats on a regular basis, it's been 4 plus years now of regular 50 point defeats, games regularly over after 20 minutes.
Finish the season with some positive results (our August, September results over the last few years speak for themself)
Aim to finish as high as possible, I think a realistic target for this is 9th (above Cas, Wakey and Hudds), not sure with this squad it could be much higher, unless we have some real luck with injuries and Cartwright proves to be a coach who can improve players hugely.

| Of what? If bitter, in 1985 Bongser was working as a potboy at The Woolpack in Leigh Bus Station and Tetley was 80p a pint. Remember being in a girlfriend's house when in my 3rd or 4th year at the RNCM when a television news item announced that Tetley had gone up to £1. That would have been ca '88 or '89.
Whilst working for Welsh National Opera in '92/3, got a call from Bro to tell me that Joseph Holts Best Bitter was a hitting a quid the following day. Immediately got a train from Cardiff Canalog to Manc Picc and a bus to Astley where, in the Cart & Horses, joined 'the lads' to sup the last 'pence only' pints. A false economy, yes, but only just - we supped the pub dry!!!

| Quote The Cooke Report="The Cooke Report"“ I was approached in July about a move to Hull” the fact you chose to stay and see your contract out means money isn’t everything? “ money in a short career is always important but so is winning. Being in a winning team is the pinnacle of playing” Hull have struggled for 5 years so the attraction isn’t as high as other clubs? “ This is a short career and you can’t be in teams for 3-4 years in hope, you need to join a winning team and add to it. I can’t see me choosing a team that won’t be challenging” LL.'"
LL????
