Surprised but obviously pleased about Balmforth. I guess after his last two performances other clubs would have been circling. I understand Rovers were very keen but prefer to develop their own players.

I wonder if we will still sign a quota hooker or go with Bourouh, Balmforth, Smith with Hodgson continuing his development?

Seems our incoming coach has had some influence on retaining Balmforth, pretty pleased personally, and more importantly another thumbs up in the direction the club are heading in youth development.

I posted a few years back on the importance of producing our own players and it’s obvious sustainability, we actually need to get to a system when other clubs want our players, and be able to replace them from within.

We can have another look at Denieve next year, and with the addition of Amir, and the emergence of Hodgson and others it’s the right path.

As we have decided to not pursue the Papuan hooker, and according to the club a full back is being looked at, probably to replace the unlucky Jack Walker, which is a shame as Walker has never let us down.
