| Quote Dave K.="Dave K."I'd go for Davies and let the other clubs clubs go for TJ.
Davies, Martin and Tindall as our wingers'"
Problem is, he's from Lancashire, I think, and the only reason to leave that lifestyle and weather is either if the player has peaked and is on the down, or homesick, in which case he'd be looking at Leigh, Wire and Sts, if Wigan don't want him. I think he is a very good player, better than what we have, although I think Tindall will be very good and we do need to give our youth a try, as you say, with Barron also in the frame with Martin.

| Quote Steve0="Steve0"Quote Steve0="number 6"seen on twitter this morning Catalan making an offer for Makinson for next season to replace Johnstone, Davies out of contract at the end of this coming season too, would like to think we are looking at Davies if we aren't keeping McIntosh'"
Davies would be a big upgrade, I hope we are in for him if he wants to come back to the UK. Wonder if makinson will go to Catalan or stay with saints'"
You would imagine that Makinson will stay at St's unless he fancies the opportunity of a change of lifestyle in the South of France if the were to sign Johnstone. Its not like St's are a mid table team so unless he see's his place in the 17 under threat I just cant see him going..
If he did leave and go to Catalan then I wouldn't bet against seeing Davies end up at St's.
I'd hope we'd also be looking at Davies but realistically I think we'd have to offer a very good package to attract him to Hull, given our poor form the past few seasons.

| Matt Shaw reckons rovers are keeping an eye on the Tom Davies situation...maybe makinson is in a similar position to Tomkins, won everything he can at his current club and fancies a change / the better quality of life in the south of France in the last few years of his career...Catalan look like a side that will continue to challenge for honours too so another good reason to go there

Of course the other scenario is that Catalans offer Davies a new deal regardless of the Johnstone/Makinson situation.
As for Matt Shaw reporting that Rovers are keeping an eye on the situation you'd expect most clubs to keep an eye on it as he's a quality player and would be a great signing for any SL club even more so being English. It wouldn't surprise me if Wigan put an offer to him.

| Good player Davies , I hope with the club in a much healthier position financially next season , The club can start to throw their hat in the ring with these type of players again .

Or could be his agent trying to get a better offer from Saints, the downside to loyalty is clubs think they can gey away with an average offer.

No point any club showing interest apparently after reading some comments in the HDM as some seem to think they're in the know or believe in their own little world (behind their closed doors) they’re already done deals for both Johnstone & Davies
As you say UllFC his agent could simply be cranking the stove up to cook his client a better deal.

| Definitely sounding like Nu Brown will be with us for just this season with his fiancee having a good job in Australia. You'd imagine the club are already looking for our 2025 half back.

It a weird way a good position, much better than the Clifford situation, club know now and can prepare, he also needs to play well to try and get a NRL deal.
It is now much easier to sign overseas players with the new rules, so signing someone like Hawkins or Volkman is much easier than 6 months ago.
I'd imagine we have 3 quota places to play with, Hoy, Brown and Carlos and probably need 4/5 positions, , halfback, hooker, backrow and possible winger.
Really key we test out Balmforth, as if he is good enough, that saves us recruiting a main hooker.

| Its early days but it is already shaping up that a 7, a centre/winger and a SR will be the key 3 points for recruitment for 2025.

- Hooker a definite priority unless we some how keep Nu brown
- centre cam Scott will get the nod but need a back up.
- winger depends on McIntosh form and Martin progression. We would be silly to not sign someone like Tom Davies.
- 2nd row definitely the priority
- prop, we really need some more depth here as youth not ready.
- scrum half, I feel like Tex could make a good half but I’m not sure he’ll work with Nu or Truey. Will definitely need to look for a controlling pivot.
- I’d love a ball playing 13 who can actually break a tackle.
I imagine we’ll still make quite a few signings next season and then TS has to deliver
