Quote: Hessle Roader "Not only won the Lance Todd trophy against Wakey, but played at least half the match with concussion. As I said before he was made of steel. I believe I read somewhere that the Queen had some complimentary words to say about him.'"
He went into the match with a niggling shoulder injury which in the end coupled with concussion caused him to have to leave the field about 10 mins from the end being totally spent. He had previously being taken from the field a couple of times with head knocks. On being assisted back to the dressing room he received great applause from all fans and for me it marked the bravest performance I have ever witnessed. Was never prouder to be a Hull FC supporter.
I believe his LTT award was unanimous from the judging panel which in itself was an outstanding achievement as Wakefield had won by a record score at Wembley which included a couple of great individual performances in their ranks.
