I met Gemmell around Lidl a few years ago , At first he was quite evasive but when i mentioned Wilf he warmed a little His words "Aye and he could have scored a lot more if he had listened to me" Well at least we got to see some class larkers

I write this with a massive lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

I was in the threepenny stand when Wilf ran onto the field making his debut.
To see the guy I had admired for a number of years in black and white shirt was something special.
I have seen many great wingers over the past 71 years but none will compare to the great Wilf Rosenberg.

RIP.

As a young teenager I had just stared to follow Leeds before Rosenberg was signed so I saw most of his games for the Loiners and many of his fine tries.

I used to collect the photos in the green sports papers that were published on the Saturday evening of the days matches and many of these were of Wilf flying over the covering tackler to score. Unbelievable.

I was gutted when he signed for Hull but I still wanted to see him score.

Many years ago I read that he was originally a centre but he was so fast the wingers couldn't keep up with him so he became a winger himself.
