As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, the two big things are straight lines and movement. The key to an attacking move is making it so the opposition don't know whether you are going to run or pass. If they know you are just going to pass pass pass all the way to the winger its easy to defend. You just keep sliding. We telegraph what we are doing because no one ever seems to try to straighten up the play. The whole team just drift from one side of the field to the other. No one ever catches it, runs straight to hold a defender up, and gives it out the back. We also never have anyone offering a threat back on the inside. Its just passing for the sake of passing, and then the winger has to cut back inside because we fooled no one and now he has nowhere to go. We run ourselves out of space time after time.
Its testament to guys like Connor and Kelly that they can actually make things happen with so little to work with. Put Connor in that Cas team with the options they would give him and he would be unplayable.
