Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Are we committed contract wise to Ellis next season?
Whichever way you look at it it's a gamble, he gets fixed and is ready to train pre season in which case what are the chances of him breaking down again. 6 months might be okay for one person (Benteke was 23) but how long it takes for someone with a lot of miles under their belt, much much heavier both in mass and muscle to get back to maximal effort is completely different.
The best information/comparison is from the NFL ajnd their findings are that 2/3 of athletes never regain their former levels, whilst that doesn't indicate anything with regard to Eliis's individual circumtsances I think there is still a big risk for next season that he might not make it back or just will be not able to be as effective.
Gutted as one more massive season from him (as well as the run in this) could have helped us poke our noses closer to the top end of the table.'"
Like you say some people will recover quicker then others. You've got Benteke who recovered in 6 months at 23 & in a different sport but on the flip side you've got Stuart Reardon who was 27 when he ruptured his & was still recovering 18 months later.
