| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"Could you be a bit more specific? I see Phil's comments on here as a promise of action not an idle threat.'"
Hull City now have to rely on parachute payments. They could lose £30 or £40 million next season. They have the deferred transfer fees to pay, the players' wages, the possible losses from Livermore's 2 year ban, if he's found guilty of taking coke, pay the non playing staff, rent for the Kc etc. There are rumours about a substantial drop in season ticket sales as well.
According to Assem Allam they are spending £2 million a year on the academy. The half a million from the Premier League they get from Category 2 status is now a substantial amount given the drop in income.
The Council can put a stop on Hull City getting that money. Phil Webster said they will by taking legal action. I have my doubts. I don't think they have the bottle. Also Assem Allam donates money to the Labour Party.

Ask Phil Webster. There is no reason why the council shouldn't have started legal proceedings to reclaim the Airco Arena for the people of Hull. Its not like Assem Allam will agree with them and take out the 3g pitch.

Hull City's financial change in circumstances is a separate issue to the SMC materially breaching the terms of the Head lease though, right?

The facts in a nutshell. I mean Hull City and the SMC are separate entities aren't they (or so we were led to believe), although history teaches us differently.

If anyone seriously believes that Allam throwing a few £k at the national party would have any effect on the decisions of a majority Labour controlled council, then they're away with the fairies.
The unions donate £millions each year and I can't remember the last time Labour introduced pro-union legslation.
Allam's donation is a straw man in the extreme

Of course, but when you're short of cash losing an extra half a million is a lot of money. The City Council have the power to stop Hull City getting academy 2 status and all that entails. The question is will they do it or let Assem Allam get away with it? The audit has already said Hull City's facilities passed the test. All that stands between the City of Hull getting a category 2 football academy is Hull City Council. Do they have the backbone to stand up on behalf of the evicted users of the Arena?

Half a million's about 10 weeks wages for a player isn't it? Not that material.
Do the council have the backbone? "Hell yeah"
Quote Obadiah="phil webbo" I can assure people on here that the council has no intension of taking this lying down because remarks made earlier about future plans of the SMC may well come to pass if we just wave a white flag, I for one will be arguing that these facilities were not built for the exclusive use of Hull City AFC, but for the use of the people of Hull whatever their sport.
The reason I won't be a party to selling off the facilities is being born out now, what next padlocks on the gates, I remember Mr LLoyd all to well, yet his actions seem to have been forgotten because certain people think we are a backward council and should give him what he wants '"
Quote Obadiah="phil webbo in April"Had the meeting this morning with Steve, He is [uadamant that they (SMC) have 10 days to return the Arena to its former state (7 days left) or action will DEFINATELY be taken regardless of cost, he said "the only way that the 3G pitch stays down is if a court rules against us" so it looks like the battle lines have been draw no if buts or maybe's[/u'"

They have now asked to meet the FA before the decision is ratified.
