Quote downtheante="downtheante"Lies, damned lies and.....
2014 - Hull had the 6th best defence, the 8th best attack, scored the 8th most tries and finished 11th losing 6 matches by 6 points or less and drawing two.
Marc Sneyd had the second most try assists (30), scored 6 and kicked the most goals (99 - missed 30) and dropped 2 goals. Leon Pryce was joint 21st on try assists with 15 and scored 4. So Sneyd and Pryce together created 45 straight tries and scored 10.
All of Hull's goal kickers together kicked 89 goals and missed 38 so Sneyd beat them on his own and arguably those 10 goals difference (20 points) could have meant more points in the league.
I know these are mere statistics but I think that having us finish 8th and lower is pretty pessimistic when you see what those two are replacing.
Hull's half-backs in 2014 created 37 tries and scored 20 (perhaps not fair to call Heremaia a half-back)
Jordan Rankin - 13 try assists and 9 tries
Richard Horne - 10 and 5
Aaron Heremaia - 9 and 2
Jacob Miller - 3 and 3
Jordan Abdull - 2 and 1
(Westerman scored one drop goal)'"
Just think how well we'd have done with a proper coach...
it's all speculation, you can apply the same to almost any club, ATEOTD we lost the close games, didn't score enough & wimpered out the CC against a bang average Salford side.
Yes we have a better team this year but can that be translated into results, that's never a given, I think us finishing 8th is a realistic guess considering we have yet more new personnel (not bedded in esecially in the halves), an inexperienced coach and plenty of other teams with very good squads.
