During the game Ryan Hall got a bit of stick about being fat (no I dont understand that bit either) but saw the funny side and laughed and clapped the East stand who clapped him back. At the end of the match Briscoe was walking over to the Leeds fans and started applauding the east stand and he got a great reception back.

McDermott was probably finding something he could appease his own fans with. As we know the South Stand at Headingley is the yardstick moral compass.

Did Briscoe actually get much abuse? All that came across on the radio was occasional booing and the odd cheer when he made a mistake.

Agreed with this. Some of the stick Schofield got was pure venom.

Briscoe got some booing, hardly enough to warrant a comment.

If McDermott wants to comment about the class of Leeds fans, I'd be interested to know his comments on the signing from the Southstand about referees / visiting fans.

The year we got promoted at Huddersfield, I swear they was a 10 minute spell in the game where the entire travelling Hull support sang "schofield beats his wife".

Absolutely.

On the Briscoe front I wouldn't say it was abuse, more just banter. I agree that we have gone far too soft and need to make the KC a bad place to come for opposition players, plus it might make them think twice about leaving.

when I think about some of the chants that I joined in with, I am a shade embarrassed. I was never actually racist, but I must admit to joining in, different times, how happy that we've moved on.

The worst they get from me now is simple non-attendance!

As long as it remains at banter level then its ok for me and if people wish to boo a returning player then its upto them IMO. They is some I do and some I dont, Cooke was one I did but Briscoe was one I never.

I dont think clapping them and singing there name in appreciation is something we should be doing.

late 70's and early 80's a different time, as I say, ashamed but it just "went on", doesn't make it right.

I do remember getting kicked out of the ground for throwing a mint at a referee! (I was about 16 I think)
