Quote: knockersbumpMKII "why the feck should we be considering moving out of the city..madness!!!
Moving to Costello is a massvely bad idea..period, dragging the club outside the city boundary never mind miles away from fans whom have walked to games for years is just utterly bonkers and will disenfranchise a lot of fans for a very long time.
Some posters on here clearly have no concept how much a 14,000 stadium would cost to build nor the annual running costs..and 14k..seriously, talk about limiting your business model..we'd be in debt for 30+ years paying it off..forget about getting even 25% of the money from the council..that's a pipe dream of epic proportions even if the council were in a position to or were even wanting to 'sell off' the KC, people grossly overestimate how much money we would get.
How many pubs are there within 1/4 mile of Costello..one that I know of, how many around the KC? If you think that beer/food prices are going to be any cheaper..think again, they'll be a massive debt to service (plus the interest)
Open ended stadiums..you get a lot wetter when it rains, you're more effected by the wind, in the relative open area around Costello you are far more open to the elements and so any games early in the season are MORE likely to be called off due to this..the costs to be met by Hull FC..not the management company.
And if people think that a better atmosphere is created just because you move to a smaller ground then that's a small team backward thinking mentality. A small ground doesn't automatically create a great atmosphere, the Boulevard was a 20K plus ground not that much smaller and far more open than the KC..people forget how crap atmosphere's were when the team were average or worse..
So if you want to move out of town, if you want the club to be in massive debt for decades and still not guarantee a successful team or a great atmsphere then knock yourselves out.. I for one would rather stay at the KC.'"

I remember the reality.
If you want to check this out, watch the season review video from 1997, our promotion year. Other then the high profile games that season of Hudds, rovers and Featherstone, the atmosphere is flat.
