Quote: BP1 "The only players I would keep unequivecably without question are Lineham and Shaul. There are then a number of others for whom retention would be based on performance over the next two years (Paea, Houghton, Westerman, Ben Crooks). Your list also includes players yet to make their 1st team debuts, so obviously it's impossible at this juncture to ascertain their true worth (the Tyson-Wilson's may turn out to be the next Tommy Lee for all any of us know).
The rest, to varying degrees, can depart whenever they are ready to pack their bags and depart, if we are serious about challenging Leeds / Wigan as the game's dominant force.
This may sound a tad harsh on some of the above, but I feel the time has come to be brutal if this club has serious designs on establishing itself as a genuine heavyweight.'"
Harsh and unrealistic. Changes need to be made without a doubt, but not every player at Leeds, Wigan and Saints is a super star and we have plenty of guys who are good enough to play in a top team without being brilliant players.
The guys we need to keep as a priority and build a team around are imo:
Shaul
Lineham
Crooks (I know he's struggled this year but he will still make a good player)
Bowden
Green
Hadley
Westerman
Then there is the group of players who I would like to keep, but wouldn't be too upset to see let go if good replacements are available:
Talanoa
Paea
Houghton
Whiting
Miller
Rankin
Feka
Ellis
Tuson
Thompson
Watts
Cunningham
So that leaves us with the guys we should be actively looking to move on:
McDonnell
Crookes
Yeaman
Horne
Kent
Colbon
Carvell
Arundel
Pitts
I haven't included youngsters in that and I have given benefit of the doubt to guys like Rankin and Miller.
