Quote: ComeOnYouUll "Hull FC's first shirt was scarlet and white stripes with the three crowns on a black badge. Hull White Star started with a blue and white shirt before switching to a black shirt with a white star.
When the two clubs merged the original shirt was black with a blue and gold badge. There was a temporary move to cherry and white stripes but this was ditched as the colours ran when the shirts were washed. We were known as the "All Blacks" around the late 1880s (around the same time as the original New Zealand team were first called that). The black shirts remained until around 1908 when the irregular hoops were first introduced.'"
Interesting stuff. I have a photo of Hull FC form their first season in the Northern Union in 1895 when they moved to Boulevard and they had black shirts, white shorts.
