Houghton was vice captain last year wasn't he? Same as I said about Ellis , he was ineffective at Wembley and Huddersfield as a leader. Leading by example isn't enough it needs strategic thinking and a bit of psychology and I don't see Houghton as having those sort of attributes. Let him concentrate on improving his acting half play and passing. Agree about Rich Whiting but I guess it depends on whether he's likely to get the 13 shirt or not or at least be a starting back rower playing long minutes. For me Whiting would be 13 , captain and first name on the team sheet but then again I don't [iknow[/i whether he would want it or be any good at it. Captains/leaders tend to be natural choices in successful teams and often are long serving whilst we've chopped and changed and tried to manufacture ours.
