I also have been thinking along similar lines. Has Peter Gentle's authority been undermind by some within the club. Have all @ the club been 'pulling together' or have there been fractions & friction within the club & on Thursday the 'bubble finally burst'? I don't know, but listening to Peter Gentle recently there seemed to have been a change in him.

If they don't play a game they don't count on the cap. So we'd have to wait for the new season (1 nov?) and reach an agreement. If we fail to do that we'd have to pay their contract up in full.

It's not going to happen by the way, we'll sign 1 maybe 2 "projects" from the Wc.
