Opening post was from a Cas fan asking for opinions from Hull fans about a former player. So I would say pretty relevant, not like he can go on the other boards and get a fair assessment.
his problems started way before he arrived in the uk...... getting sacked by brisbane and cronulla for drinkining related incidents and then getting shipped of to new zealand warriors, culminating in a drink-driveing ban just before he left for the uk.........
and the rest is history when he arrived here...... brett seymour has serious mental issues in which i hope he is addressing, how and why these thoughts have happend i dont know, but he was/is a troubled man unfortunatly.......
to be honest i didnt think youd see him play at any proffesional standard again... and i also thought he would drift of back into country football back home.... and never to be heard of again.....
id be really giving him a wide berth..... i cant see the logic of giving him a chance, id say its to far down the line for that
Forgetting all the mental baggage, Brett Seymour did not bring any attacking flair or organisational skills that the team needed from an expensive NRL half back. His lack of pace and creativity were the biggest disappointment. I thought he tried hard and defended very well. Good luck to him but not a good signing imho.
He's up there with some of the biggest hitting half backs in the competition. Obviously he was employed to direct the team in attack, which he did struggle with, but I thought his defence was spot on!
Would wish him and Cas all the best. Didn't provide the impact at 7 that we desired and obviously had some baggage that resulted in the well documented problems. Maybe, as mentioned, a move to 6 and playing at a club a little less in the spotlight will work out for him.
