Saints form (until last Monday's win against Leeds) was dire, and their home crowds are down quite a bit on last year. I think that had more of an effect on the lower numbers they took.
I think the lineup of games was about as good as they can get it: the difficult teams to schedule are Warrington, Widnes, Huddersfield and Salford who don't really have derby's to play. Widnes-Warrington is historically a 'derby' but Widnes haven't consistently been at Warrington's level for decades.
