It says that the Aussies are going to increase drug testing in the sport in particular in relation to Human Growth Hormone. I wonder if we have a problem with that over here? Anyone know what the visible symptoms might be. If its a Neanderthal looking forehead and eyebrows I reckon we might have a big problem because some players have undergone an unbelievable facial transformation. Some only lack knuckles dragging along the ground. Is this growth hormone stuff illegal? Thoughts!!!!

terry newton... its a very hard steroid to test for and a lot of player believed it to be untraceable.

HGH can't itself be detected, as it's a naturally occurring thing we already have. But the effects and 'cycles' can be detected as you don't just take it as and when you please. Many athletes get round this by timing their cycles right so they're free of it when they're tested.

the premier league has shown suspicious activity right up to FA administration level, I remember a documentary observing that on 'random' test days a lot of players didn't turn up to training due to illness at a lot of clubs.

as above, players use in in cycles and they know when it can and cant be detected as levels in humans vary.

in cycling, all cyclists sign up to a system where wherever they are in the world at whenever time of the year they have to notify the drug testing council and they can be tested at any random time. a system that works well nowadays anyway.
