I respect that people can have an opinion, that you yourself have come to a conclusion I was attacking that people should not have an opinion shows you didn't read what I had written or didn't understand it?
You can check every single post I've made, not once ever have I said people whom post stuff I disagree with should not have an opinion worth posting, that in effect is what you are stating I've said in my post you quoted.
In so fact that my opinion differs to yours it matters not one jot, clearly I'm pointing out that the naysayers even without knowing anything about said player or do not understand that people can change/turn about their lives when presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. They will have their opinion but is somewhat negative/ narrow minded and closed off to the concept that people can change and/or have latent potential that can be tapped by those more professional or even being in a more professional environ with others far better than you might actually encourage (possibly embarress even) you to reach higher.
This happens everywhere in life, certainly in organised groups and with proper training/encouragement and in some cases the kick backs it can work miracles, you see this in all walks of life and not just sport.
Yourself from what you have written seemingly are already saying he won't come to anything. Sure you've seen him play, I get that people are saying he seems not to be giving his all or taking advantage of his physical size. That's a head thing, either he's just not that bothered about putting himself about, doesn't have the confidence to do so (which can look like lack of heart), is scared to do so (which also looks like lack of heart) but I'd think that isn't the case. His fitness level will change some of it without a doubt because you are more confident if you're better than you were. Anyway who are we to critcise as to why...will it change things at FC, no, will it change the supporters, no. It won't change anything at all and basically is no risk at all.
Gentle and whomever scouted him have decided in their experience that he might be worth a punt, that it may come to nought is the risk you take even when taking on some big wage players (as FC fans we know this from experience sadly!!)
I don't take the about other teams signings, I've better things to write/muse about however you seem quite keen to crack out with your smart comments re the next Burgess/Graham, actually think about why people will stand up and respond to negative/narrow minded posters.
Being an FC supporter (or a RL fan in general) is a hard enough thing as it is, we as fans struggle with the balance of success and failure (far too much of the latter!), we feel negative at times when things are going wrong, myself included (an earlier post this year was a lengthy description of woes of the club) yet this (Waller) is such a small tiny thing that to be negative about it is pretty petty at the very least.
Quote: Bomber's tash "I have a lot of respect for anyone plying their trade however as this is a Hull FC forum where fans can have opinions on the club, rumours, players and a whole host of other things then you shouldn't really get upset by their opinions. People pay good money to watch the club so can say what they like. As for Waller I stand by my comment that if HKR where rumoured to be signing him or had signed him a lot of Hull FC fans would be taking the p1ss. Lets face it the recent signings of Nicklas & re-signing of Netherton have been mocked many a time however they both have SL experience.
I may be proved wrong when it comes to Waller, some people who come on here will have never seen the kid play so like to hear peoples opinions. Personally I've seen him play for Skirlaugh on several occasions & he looked no better than other props in the national conference certainly not a barnstorming aggressive prop his 6'5" 18st frame could be. Looks to lack a bit of ticker when the going gets tough. But who knows Eorl Crabtree has openly admitted he wasn't 'tough' in his early career & Tony Smith's desire to toughen him up nearly drove him away from the game.
All I can go on is my opinion & that is Waller is not good enough for SL, that doesn't mean if he signs he won't play SL but I see nothing in him that I don't see every saturday afternoon locally apart from a large frame.
p.s. If you'd like a more positive non 'binning' the player off opinion. The yes he's the next James Graham/Sam Burgess & is the best prop in the championship with interest from the NRL and all top 4 SL clubs............Then when he turns out not to be you'll be one of the disapointed ones!!! No need to build players up anymore then there is to 'bin' them off. Tommy Lee for example was gonna be a world beater even though he never was & then when this was proven he got grief when in reality we've had far worse over the last decade & the fact he's still in SL shows he wasn't as cr@p as some made out.'"
