Unfortunately, as frustrating as situations like these are, us fans need to accept that it is now part of the modern game.

In an ideal world, Briscoe would have already signed a new contract or at least informed the club of his intention to leave. Although it seems that Briscoe currently holds all the cards, it's swings and roundabouts as far as I'm concerned with clubs often leaving players dangling for weeks and months before withdrawing contract offers etc.

As many have said, I would be aggrieved if he left for another super league side, but think that is more realistic than heading off to the NRL as I don't believe that he is of that standard yet.

It's a big blow should he leave but as has been said if he doesn't want to stay then goodbye.

I'd just like some confirmation either way.

Maybe so, but I doubt many would know that. They will associate him as a local due to his Dad.

I really hope you're not serious, Tom Briscoe's talent is second to none. Some of the plays I've seen him make are pure quality. Crooks has huge potential, but no where near. Yet.

Always sad to lose a class player, but as previously stated if he doesn't want be here then turah. Would be very disappointed if he goes to another SL team.

losing the 2nd best english winger is not good news at all and is going to be very hard to replace imo if not impossible.
after the fc v wigan game when the team were clapping the fans Briscoe was getting big hugs off Tomkins and Oloughlin , at the time i just thought it was the england players bonding but now i think the deal has been done for a few weeks (well maybe not in writing)

Big blow to lose him and what I don't understand is why we can't retain him? Is it simply wanting to win trophies? If we want to be successful we have to keep our best players. You won't see Hall or Charnley leaving.

If tomkins ends up going to the NRL next season i cant see wigan winning anything!

Look at the end of last season when they lost him in the play offs, they were nowhere near a threat when he was in the squad. Could be another manu scenario!

Briscoe will go wherever the money is, as we all would. He's a good player, he's not a one man team.
