For me the best referees are the ones that aren't noticeable and just let the game flow. Cardiff 2005 is a great example of this with Ganson. Unfortunately it's one of the few occasions I can think of when he was like this.
I don't mind refs that pull a team up for their errors and infringements either but they need to be consistent in their decision making. Ganson was one of the worst for inconsistency IMO.
