| If Gentle was that good why hasn't he coached a NRL side. If this was his first season then its understandable, it would take time. If we do get rid I hope its sooner rather than later because with have got out of contract players that need their futures sorting. Leaving it to the end of the season is too late. A new coach would want his own players and in our sport just cant get rid which would mean another wasted season.

| Quote Mars="Mars"I'd agree completely if we'd been playing like that with Holdsworth, Ellis, Lynch and McDonnell in the team.
But yesterday was about lack of leadership and direction. And that was all sitting in the stands. That doesn't make the performance acceptable - it wasn't and I've said in an earlier post that I don't think Gentle has adapted very well to those injuries - but the fact is we're down our 4 best players.
I'm not for accepting mediocrity any more than you are (I've suffered through the Lloyd and then the Agar years) and I've no issue with fans or AP being p***** off (I know I am) - all I am saying is that we (fans and AP) should balance our recent poor form with those key players missing against our overall good form whilst Gentle's been here and give the guy a bit more time and support.
If we're going to ditch our coach every time we string two or three poor performances together then we'll get nowhere.
If we're still performing like this in 4 or 5 weeks then I'll agree with you.'"
Same stance here as I said earlier it would be pointless getting rid now he should get to the end of the season. Hopefully (possibly/maybe) by then we'll have had a few games with all of our recruits playing and we will see if the potential of the team with those players all in it can be realised. I'm just hoping that we're already a way on with next year's recruitment and that we have some further strengthening in the bag just this time we're not talking about it too early.

| Quote Standee="Standee"a coach who all but bankrupt us and then walked away when it suited him, no thanks.'"
A coach doesn't run the finances of a club, the board do.
If a coach is in demand, that means he is doing a good job.
We need a coach to implement the foundations of a solid structures throughout the club, Smith will get the players doing the basics to a good standard.

Sorry, you clearly don't know what Smith did to FC.

Care to elaborate.
Don't the Chairman /board control the finances?

So put us right then...you seem to "allege" that you know enough about Brian and Jason Smith.

I know plenty about both, but people don't like to hear about it, they'd rather hero worship, so I leave them to it.
Do you honestly think Brian Smith is the answer?

At this moment in time - a resounding YES.
Who is your answer?

As it stands, Gentle, with a fully fit squad and players pulling their weight.

Who mentioned "hero worship"...Smith took us out of the doldrums and Jason Smith for the 1st 2 seasons was simply a class apart. Now to other things about them...Brian Smith is not the answer as he has a habit of buggering off after a couple of yrs,if we was to bin Gentle then it has to be Daniel Anderson and Jason Smith should have been released once his "injurys" got too much...i put injurys as you seem to know a lot more.

I know what I saw, I believe what was agreed with the RFL at the time. Anyway, it's irrelevant, it was many years ago.
