I am in agreement with you & I am not bothered whether St. Helens or any other club play well or badly, my concern is for Hull. I like many others want them to improve & allowing for some changes in personnel in the close season etc., I did not see any improvement from them @ Leeds.

When Leeds , Saints , Wigan etc get thumped and go through bad patches their fans may get a bit upset like us but then they can take comfort from the fact that it will be a blip and in very recent history can point to similar blips which have then been forgotten as they win the cup or the league or stay in the big four in that very same season. Us on the otherhand look back and see the same old pattern so I think it's not unexpected that when we lose to Leeds in a similar way to previous seasons that the liklihood is that nothing much will change. I need to see evidence on the field that we're bigger , faster and smarter before I can start to be optimistic and after the KR friendly and the Leeds game there is none.

If you looked closely there were signs. Very close mind. McDonnell chimed into the line a few times in good attacking positions but the ball was to pedestrian n slow to get to him. Had it been done right it would have been hard to defend. We were a lot deeper in attack on some plays than I've seen before, we moved the ball right across the line a few times even in our own 20. None of these things stood out though because of the slow poor manner they were executed. We tried a over ambitious play off the scrum n immediately lost the ball, another day that would have been a break. On the few times we kicked on the front foot you could see it was better. Holdsworth 1st kick after we'd been held to 15 metres n they picked it up on their 10was something I haven't seen 4about 6yrs.
Defence at times was great, would have definitely conceded more in that opening 60mins in yrs gone by.
To many didn't turn up on the night for whatever reason. Especially Danny Houghton n whiting I'd not expect them to play as poor ever again. Westy n galea are better than that as well.
I expect a big jump in improvement by Bradford n then weekly improvements as we go along. Will take time though. Watts n tickle back will help matters to

What do some people expect the coaches & players to say when the reporters go round asking how preseason is going? Hardly going to sell tickets if they say how we're behind schedule, not very confident of winning the 1st game or in fact any games are they? Seriously.

Some people on her really need to get a grip. We have played one game... Seriously!!

We failed to sign a scrum half and that is the one signing all of us could see we needed, the lack of that one signing I feel is going to cast a long shadow over this season. This will put immense pressure on the club to succeed, this more then any other season we have to be pushing for honours as far too many hopes have been raised to fever pitch.

It looks bad at the moment but I always look at things after six games and you get a better idea of how the land lies. I have thought if we got four points from the first four games we where doing ok.

To the posters who say its the first game !!!! . Fridays performance followed on just as bad as last seasons ..
Ask yourselves was there any improvement from last season game at headingley ?.

Lets be realistic in pro sport you big yourself up publicly you get the opposition fired up and thats just what we did for leeds

no doubt you and a few others are already fearing the worst! a loss at headingley, where our record is quite poor isn't going to define our season!
