2 from a long way back,hull seemed about to sign bill kirkbride,cumbrian foreward,last minute halifax signed him.other one even worse,all set to sign castleford centre peter small and rovers nipped over to cas and pipped hull to his signature.i was only 12 ,but i still remember them 2 that got away.

jpr williams i heard that too! brett kenny was supposed to sign the same time as peter sterling but chose wigan instead can you imagine those two at halfback for fc in 1985 wembley final ,i remember fred ah kuoi was supposed to come the same time as kemble ohara and leuluai but didnt come till later

Yes, JPR Williams very nearly signed for Hull. I thik he would have been working at HRI too as he was in the medical profession.

It would have been the biggest union to league signing in years.

I remember Hull making a big play for Stacey Jones shortly before McRae left for Souths. We've not had much luck recently in bringing top quality scrum halves to Hull.

warren jowitt actually played for fc, only about 3 games, but he wasnt a nearly man........
