Aspinwall would be a fantastic squad player to keep, im with Paul M ffs people moaning because this hasn't come off , or he hasn't come in, rome wasn't built overnight, ther club have moved heaven and earth to make chase happen, and it hasn been outside of our hands that will stop us from getting him

AP has invested heavily in all sorts of other areas off the pitch, in rehab,academy,coaching,young wilson to aussie which cost the club around 30k to send,transfer fees for watts,pitts etc

Or we can go back yo the old regime with the constant penny pinching, and lies like oh we payed a fee for westerman, but by the way we won't tell the fans we haven't spent full cap this year thats were the trsansfer fee come from

Don't get me wrong I have a lot of faith in Gentle and AP has done a great job bringing him in, plus the other work he has done with the club, however I am concerned that the spin is becoming a joke.

I do not disagree that Aspi is a good squad player, however no way should we be relying on a get out clause to keep him!! some-one has fecked up.

Totally agree, the money that he has spent on the youth and training facilities alone must be massive.

I do with with some others though, he has said things in the press that have got the fans hopes up, this may not have been intentional but he has still done it.

It's not just about players is it, what about infrastructure, facilities, promoting young players, coaching staff etc etc. AP has lifted us out of the gutter and give us reason to believe again. If the fact that we have missed out on the odd player like Chase or Paea slants you view on him then so be it.

To me it's appalling.

AP does seem to have built up fans expectations to record levels so I suppose it was inevitable that there would be some disappointment.

As for the "two signings a week for a month", we've had .....two....one....one...none....I think ? Does that leave four more signings?

The Aspinwall story today has suggested that "our squad is nearly complete for 2013" which seems a little odd given what we've been told for the last few weeks.

Maybe it is nearly complete, but we are yet to learn of who else has signed. Remember if we aren't getting chase, then we have a substantial salary chunk there to be used - but it sounds to me that we are saving a wedge for another half-back.

I think every-one recognizes the contribution that AP has brought to the club, however to raise concerns about our recruitment & retention & constant spin should hardly be classed as appalling imo.
