WARRINGTON WOLVES’ RESPONSE TO THE CROWD ISSUE.
Following extensive investigations following the crowd /stewarding disturbance at the play off match on Saturday night against Hull FC the Warrington Club release the following statement.
After a thorough debrief of the incident involving the club, stewards, police, Hull FC and the security company employed by Warrington Wolves, it was found that the incident occurred as a Hull FC player was handing his boots to a young child in the West Stand and as a result of this there was a surge forward by the Hull fans trying to congratulate their team at the end of their season. Unfortunately some Hull FC fans jumped over the electronic advertising boards on to the field requiring a group of stewards to take actions to get them back into the West Stand. The evidence gathered shows over- robust tactics by a member of the security staff followed by taunting of the Hull fans.
Warrington Wolves will be meeting the security company in the next few days to ensure that this particular person is not deployed at The Halliwell Jones Stadium again. Warrington Wolves would like to thank the Hull FC fans for travelling in tremendous numbers and creating an absolutely superb atmosphere and reassure fans that this was an isolated incident. Indeed the club have received e-mails and letters from Hull fans thanking the club on how they were treated at the match. We look forward to welcoming the Hull FC fans back to The Halliwell Jones Stadium next season.
ENDS.
And with this immediate response Warrington Wolves have t be applauded on their actions and concerns.
