A lot of people said it was 18 months, the club said it was to end of season, then a lot of conspiracy theorists decided it was 6 months with a "to be announced" by default 1 year extension IIRC.

Exactly. For me it was never so much about his ability as his history of thuggish behaviour. Have to say he's been pretty much exemplary since joining us though, and has gone a long way to modifying my opinion of him on all fronts. The article quoted by StaffsFC helps a great deal as well.
