My understanding is this.;
Cas were initially happy for us to talk to Rangi provided we could agree a fee. We haven't offered as much as he is being paid at Cas but he is more than willing to move to us.
We have suggested a price of around £150k, so Cas have moved quickly to NOT discipline Rangi heavily for his night out and subsequent refusal to turn up for training but instead to give him a warning and a fine.
This sends out a more positive message that this isn't the 'kick him out of the country' problem that some suggested, in the hope that Wigan/Warrington come in with a larger offer. Cas know they won't get £350k for him but also the money they save from his wage would be immense (on top of the £70kp/a they've saved in the last week).
We are playing a little bit of 'chicken' with Cas and could still well sign him next week but not be held ransom.
We WILL sign Rangi Chase if all of this falls into place as it should. My estimate would be around £175k plus a preseason friendly or two in which Cas received the gate reciept profits.
For the record, I have not said to anyone that he's actually signed but i did suggest that there was a chance that he could play in the derby, this is still the case as we speak.
All this said, IF we do go into the rest of the season with our current squad and no additions then for me this season is written off and written off as failure. Clearly a building season to 'restart'.'"
Crickey my earlier conspiracy theory was not too far off the mark then.

At first Cas were playing hard to get with Rangi, To hold out for what he contract was worth (550-600k). So i very much doubt we will be taking anything in the region of 150k.
We have rejected an approach already if rumour is to be believed for 300k, Due to recent indescretions i am sure, That figure would be accepted, But probably not much less.

The crux of all of this is how much the club want to keep him...if they want rid which it is rumoured they do they will probably take the best offer at the end of the day and that may not be 300k, like I mentioned earlier recent events may well have put a few people off. I reckon Cas will get around 200k for him but not much more. |

Who are Hull releasing to fit Chase within the cap as Gareth Ellis isn't coming cheap? I know Turner & Manu have gone to Saints but I think Ellis is on more than Manu was and Arundle will be on morew than Turner?

I know 100% for a fact that NOBODY has put in an offer of £300k!! Or any other amount from Warrington/Wigan etc....
We are the only club making serious attempts to sign Rangi.
Yes we are off the mark with an initial valuation but if you think about the potential profit of 2 friendlies that FC could potentially offer we maybe in the region of around £200k plus £150k cash pretty much hits that price tag, does it not??
On top of the fact that your highest paid player does not have the real desire to play for Cas, offloading him will save you alot of wasted money.
