Hard to compare as Ice Hockey and NBA playing areas are smaller (at least they seem to be to me, and cannot be bothered to check). If you could bring up a NFL and MLS team using the same pitch/stadium then it would be a lot easier to make a comparison.

At least 23 of the 32 NFL pitches are fully artificial, most of the others have an artificial twist imbedded in them aside from Heinz Field which is oft critisiced probably due to the stadiums Northerly geographic location and the problems that brings during the winter
