Quote: Graham Richards "On the eve of its much anticipated release I feel that I should put the following on here for all to read.
As a friend of Pete who is in the fortunate position to have been able to purchase a copy in advance of tomorrow release I would like to state that it is without doubt the best book I have read this week.
As a fanatic of our great club since 1976 when much the same as Pete I was introduced to the Boulevard and Hull FC by my mother and father. I can state that this book has had me gripped since I obtained a copy on Saturday afternoon. Every page details a journey of passion, joy, ecstasy (occasionally) and lots of sorrow. We can all empathise with that. He doesn't even really mention May 80 either.
I have learnt about unsung heroes both on the field and away from the playing arena. Characters in Hull characters in the game as a whole.
Pete's disappointment at moving to the country (Sutton) and his secret weapon with the ladies. Its all in there and I highly recommend it. Either as a way to reminisce if you are of the older generation or be educated for us under 45s.
Pete has managed to transport me back in time, when health and safety was unheard of. Grave diggers played pranks on the apprentices, games were played on Thursday afternoons and buses ran on Xmas day to get the faithful to the Boulevard.
Buy this book and share in Pete's story. Its brilliant. Let's hope there is a que outside the KC for this tomorrow.
I will even add its worth a read even if you are a red and white or just a RL fan in general.'"
Good 3/4 page review of it in League Express by Martyn Sadler. Really complimentary.
