| Quote carl_spackler="carl_spackler"I agree Lynch is a better player than Cusack was, my point was more about how inferior a player Cusack in his last year with us was compared to the Cusack we signed. If Lynch lasted 2 years with us we've basically paid an extra £75k wages a year for him, and whilst he's good is he THAT good? Also, you say £100-150k as if it isn't that much, but when you think about it, is a 32-year-old prop worth almost as much or the same as we paid for Westerman who looks better every week and should spend his prime years with us now?
Peacock's another I would have been pleased with a while ago but not now. Pearson seems willing to spend money, I'd hope it's on establishing us as one of the strongest clubs around for the foreseeable future, not just a couple of good seasons. If we start splashing money around on fading players it's going to make us look like easy targets for raised prices on any other players we try for too.'"
Cusack proves your point perfectly. Agree entirely that Lynch could be a good signing but is a big risk and could easilly go downhill just as rapidly as Cusack did. Definitely wouldn't want Peacock now but therein lies the problem , who's out there? Maybe have to convert Ticks get Whiting into the backrow and strengthen the backs until a prop worth signing is available whilst giving a couple of the younger lads a go where necessary.

If i was Lynch i would be offended that he is put in the same bracket as cusack tbh...I know what u are saying about age but lynch doesnt seem to be stopping yet and at the end of the day we have taking risk on worse players then him. I mean mckinnon major knee construction surgery and has dodgy hamstrings and is quite old for a back where pace goes with age unlike props who rely more on power and stamina then pace.
If we are taking risks on goodish to average players then we must take small risks with top quality players who would make a difference like a lynch or a peacock imo.

| 1 player I'd love to see at Hull is Felito Mateo of New Zealand Warriors, amazing player. Take note McBanna, I found out he's eligible for England to due to his English mother

£100-150k transfer fees are not a small risk in rugby league. It's great that we seem to have been bought out by someone willing to invest in us, but that doesn't mean we should expect him to be some sort of sugar daddy ready to fritter away money on short term signings just to cause a stir. Lynch could make a difference to us for a couple of years, the same £150k spent on younger players and/or their development could make a difference to us for 10 or more. Spend money on transfer fees if the right players are available, not just for the sake of it.
And as for Lynch taking offence at being in the same bracket as Cusack, Cusack has an NRL win to Lynch's SL win, with a further 3 GF appearances under his belt. The difference is that you've been watching Lynch in his prime whereas we saw Cusack with his best days behind him and approaching retirement, but you're then actually suggesting we do pretty much the same for Lynch and pay a transfer fee for the privilege.

| If we sign another forward im sure he'll be a lot better than Lynch and will be a someone who'll be here for the long term and not at the end of his career.

| Lynch is one of the best fowards in SL, I'd sign him up for 2 years.
The club however need to sign up a couple of youngish props, as at the end of 2012, we could have no props if Moa and O Meley go back to the NRL and Radford retires.
Thats why the club are maybe looking players like O Carrol for next year.

| As we know that we need a prop for next season and most likely a backrower (because I don't see Agar giving Green/Cunningham/etc too much gametime), what would people think to the signings of Ryan Bailey and Brett Ferres?
Both English. Both decent. Both OOC. Both better than the majority of other OOC players. Bailey isn't popular, don't think I have to explain why, but he's not that bad at the game. Ferres is also generally good, and would be a good interchange for a starting backrow of Manu, Westerman, Tickle.
