I don't know if it was earlier in this thread or the previous one where someone said he'd been offered a reduced basic deal with appearance bonuses that would make his salary up to his previous level if he played every game. If it's true, I like the idea and think it's a good compromise.

We've had at least 1 of our 1st choice 1/2 backs available for most games this season. wire, saints, leeds, hull kr have all operated with one of their 1st choice halves missing for a chunk of the season and have all managed, most much better than us

leeds and rovers haven't done "much better than us" this season

For me Dowes seems to be another Adam Maher as in solid but not spectacular, not given credit for the effort and work he puts in for the team and only notice what value he had to the team when he'd gone.

If we are struggling to find anybody better than Dowes then it wouldnt be the end of the world if he was signed for another year. In all fairness our pack hasn't been the problem really its been the lack of Long & Horney let alone a partnership in the halfs all season.

If Purdham is leaving quins, he would be a very good signing and would partly solve our props problem if we had him as our first choice 13. Surely he'd be interested in us if he's talking to Wakefield.

Part of the reason he's in these supposed talks is to be nearer his family so maybe Wakey appeals more in that sense.

Why would Wakefield be closer to Cumbria than Hull is ?? There's nothing in it hardly.

We may have already signed Westerman anyway for 13 from what we read on here?

I think that I'd rather have Purdham.

I'd agree currently but Westerman is one for the future. Isnt Purdham nearer to 30 with Westerman nearer to 20?
