Quote: ChrisH "Lots of people on here believe that we should be judged on our league table position today. Most of those do not believe that we are genuine contenders for silverware this year. I think that those pessimistic soles amongst us , me included , are probably surprised at our position in the table , pleasantly so , but, like those supporters happy with that 4th spot , also don't believe that we'll win anything. Where the opinions diverge is re the future. I cannot see us improving at a greater rate than the teams above us or those around us. Indeed I see Wigan , Leeds and Saints improving faster. Wire may also get ahead of us and a number of others will be similar to us. If that's the way it pans out then we will continue to compete for 4th , 5th , 6th place for years to come. I want to have a real prospect of getting to finals and hopefully winning something in the next 2/3 years. It would be interesting to see what price bookies would put on all of the SL teams re their chances of silverware in the next 5 years. I can't imagine any would have us any higher than 4th favourite and perhaps more likely joint 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th favourites. As a team with everything going fantastically well off the field , with probably the best stadium and a great and loyal fanbase I think that we should really be aiming to be being bracketed with the likes of Leeds Saints and Wigan over the next few years as favourites. The bookies and most pundits don't think that we'll compete because they cannot see any signs of that improvement we need or of the recruitment strategy that will really see our odds for success shorten.
We have no right to win anything. We will only ever be as good as the 17 we put on the pitch. I just believe that with everything in place as it has been for 2 or 3 years we really ought to be worrying the bookies and be a much shorter price for success in the next 2 or 3 years than we appear to be. Why not , why can't /shouldn't we be competing? Maybe we will?????? We most certainly should be.'"
