Of course its important to win a derby game, maybe if you've not been a F.C fan since childhood it doesn't have the same meaning but if you've grown up with your dad and grandads as black and whites then its huge. unless we lose in which case having players fit for the play offs is far more important and its just another game

Some games mean more than others. The derby is a game that most fans really want to win. How anyone can say beating Salford has the same meaning as beating Rovers is beyond me. I suspect it has more to do with reducing the pain afterwards if we lose.

Absolutely. I'm sort of hoping that we believe we can win all games and always go in with a level of intensity to do just that. Human nature comes into it of course and just like us fans the players will be more easily motivated for a derby than the likes of Quins but that's where the coaches come in and they have to make sure that the players are up for all games for the full 80. Perhaps a good job that Expro didn't go into coaching!

All I can say is attitudes towards a Derby game must of changed a lot since I left hull. Sorry but the its just another 2pts does not wash with me! Let's be honest here when the fixtures are released which is the 1st game you look for???? Point made....

Although we all always want to beat Rovers its not the be all and end all for some of us. If we want to be a consistent top 4 team, challenging for trophies, we should be more concerned about beating Leeds, Wigan, Saints etc., not worrying about what the Dobbins are doing.

Just because they obssess about us does not mean we have to obssess about them.

I reckon the large amount of those people who say "its just another game" probably don't live in Hull or ever have done.

Even though on paper the rewards are just the same the whole meaning of the game is different...hence why its the only fixture that can attract over 20,000 to the KC on a constant basis...hence why its the only fixture to recieve a five figure crowd for a friendley.

Losing is the unthinkabnle because you know where ever you go in Hull they will be talk of the game, no matter where you turn its everywhere...you go to work there is opposite fans winding you up, you go down the street they is opposite fans winding you up, you go to the pub they is opposite fans winding you up.

If people just see this as another game they are not only selling the occasion short to themselves but probably aint effected by the result in the long term!

After the first half of Rovers v Leeds, I'm thinking of not going. Talk about hitting some form at the right time. Their front row on that form will muller us if we're missing O'Meley and Moa.

Must admit I'm pretty happy that I'll be in San Francisco for the derby.
