Quote rugbynut="rugbynut"Firstly let me say I am not blaming the ref for the defeat, but as we're on the subject of refs then I have to say that they seem to get a "downer" on one team and penalise every thing they do. I thought Rovers got a rough deal at Warrington, as did Bradford when they went there. Also couldn't understand how Rovers had two in the bin against saints and then when Mr Cunnigham did a head high he stayed on the field - inconsistency!! It's been in the game for decades. How do we stop it??'"
I said on another thread it seems to be the way Child refs, he gives the dominant side most of the 50-50's and this just keeps the other team on the back foot. I think his calls are probably correct but it seems very unevenly handed. The game we played against saints was typical of this that saints got on a roll, the ref hammered us and we got less disciplined. Can really infuriate a fan as its bad enough seeing a game turn against you, but every bit of 'enthusiatic' defence gets pulled up you realise you've got no chance.
Would be intersting to see how many of childs games have ended up with very one sided scorelines (teams having long spells of scoring unanswered points) compared to other refs.
