I have to disagree here. In my opinion Widnes will NEVER get a franchise.
The RFL want to expand the game and as long as Widnes are geographicaly close to Warrington they wont get in , no matter how good their criteria looks.Salford will get the new stadium next year and will become the Manchester team that the RFL want. They will eventually go for a second French team as well.
Plus they will want a team in Scotland pretty soon,and probably another half way down the country[Brum
There are only so many places available ,probably a maximum of 16 teams eventually[many years from now so I can see a few of the present clubs eventually losing out.

Can't see a SL franchise in Scotland. The Magners League attendances for Edingburgh and Glasgow Warriors in union are dire - often around 2,500. I fail to see rugby league with no history there at all taking off. |
