| Shame for Calders, but i do think the wing position is becoming a worry for us.
Teams will target us in this area (as Wigan already have) unless we play a recognised winger in the wing spot and if this means blooding one of our youngsters then so be it. You have to do it at some point for them to gain Super League experience. It did Horne and Yeamo no harm. Otherwise we could come really unstuck over the Easter period.
If not then as Mrs B suggests we need to seek a loan winger or buy one, salary cap permitting, even if it means going to the lower leagues. Any suggestions/names anyone?

| Our problem of having, in the senior squad, 4 "centres" (Briscoe, Whiting, Yeaman, Hall with Turner to call on) and only one winger (Calderwood) is giving Agar a headache. Briscoe is never a winger, hes wasted out there and this is doing his game no good whatsoever. Hes looked dangerous only twice this year (Saints when he came infield and broke away to score and another time which escapes me). Hall hasnt the confidence to play wing, we get away with him at centre at home. Yeaman is undroppable it seems and Whiting is making sure, through his performances, is somewhere on that teamsheet each week. Four into two doesnt go so something has to give. I'd give one of the 2 young kids (Tuffour/Lyne) a go next week with Whiting alongside him as Yeaman has a tendency to disregard using or looking after his winger. If we were at home against Salford i'd be tempted to play both. In the coming weeks with Calderwood out, it looks like a make do with Briscoe on one flank but the coaches have got to work on his game defensively otherwise that left wing will be like a sitting duck. For the other wing, its either one of the young kids or Whiting, who, ateotd will never let you down wherever he plays. Hes no slower than players like Colbon for example.
To talk of disregarding Calderwood already at the end of the year isnt fair on the kid, hes obviously come back to early with this injury. I'd certainly keep him on. I noticed fans havnt been shouting for Long's head even though hes missed 3 games and hasnt come with the best injury record of recent seasons.
A big blow to lose Horne, we just need confirmation of how long were looking at him being out.
It could be worse, we could be nursing 10 injuries this week which was a regular occurance last 2 years so 2 injuries after 7 games plus 2 friendlies isnt a bad record for us upto now touch wood.

| I'd move Tansey to the wing and Whiting to full back for now. Turner in right centre if Horne is fit, or Hall if not.

| Give Reece Lyne a go, he's inexperienced but at least he's a proper winger. He's tall, fast and strong and when you've got that you're well on your way to being a good winger.

| Too soon for Reece imo, bring Hall back for Calderwood. Horne probs won't play next week but hopefully will be back for the Rovers game. Think the initial diagnosis was 3 weeks.

| I dont buy any of this too soon malarky. Like Mrs B pointed out last night Yeamo started out at 16 and has not done too badly. Lynne although only 16 has shown in the u20's he can score tries and has pace to burn so i think he deserves a shot playing there. Salford would be the ideal game to blood him in as well.
We really do need at least one winger in the side and with Calders injured i think it is time to give the youngster a go.

| what happened to the days when an injured player was replaced by a player from the "A" team who played in the same position?
bring a young winger in and give him a go, 10 years ago we brought a young stand off (plus another player)into the side from our lower ranks and they did n't do too bad.

Those days are long gone! Anyway why simply replace an injuried player with his understudy when you can make 6 positional changes and end up with players playing out of position?
I would give Lyne or Tuffour their SL debuts next week.
