I can't see why so many people are so keen to get rid of him. He's a quality English winger with bags of big game experience and he's still only 28!!

For me Calderwood was our player of the year last season (albeit not many to pick from), he tackles everything, gives 110% and always looks committed and enthusiastic. He hasn't had a great deal of service which probably explains his lack of tries but with Longy providing some kicks to run onto and a few ball handlers chucking long passes out wide that could all be about to change. Definatley worth a new deal in my mind.

Big difference between them in the number of total carries!

You read about his enthusiasm aswell, I think that may have been slightly over exaggerated due to the lack of passion from alot of the squad over the previous 2 seasons.

He has been enthuaisastic at Leeds and Wigan and was just carrying that on

I mentioned previously that these stats are loved and hated by some but those stats tell me he might have looked enthusiastic but did little to back it up.

Calderwood - 13 appearances, 110 carries (about 8.5 per game)
Colborn - 26 appearances, 285 carries (about 11 per game)

So the difference at Wigan is slight. And if you look at any other stat that year, you need to bare in mind that he made half the number of appearances. Calderwood did nearly double the amount of dummy half runs in half the number of games, which suggests they used him in a much different way to Colborn.

Calderwood - 19 appearances, 152 carries (8 per game)
Colborn - 24 appearances, 350 carries (about 14.5 per game)

Last year Hull were gash and barely touched the ball, and when we did it was straight down the middle stuff. Rovers were a good side and very expansive, so the wingers got more touches.
Again, look at the dummy half runs from Calderwood compared to Colborn. More than double, and in less games. More marker tackles (Hull had to tackle more). More tackles made (again, had to do more). Less missed tackles.

The number of carries says only so much about what someone is doing in a game. You need to look at the context.
