I agree, going to get my season ticket regardless, however no matter who we have lined up i cant seem to drop that feeling its just going to be more of the same.  but on that note it would take something special to finish lower next year and if we did i dont think a 36yr old with half a name would commit to us in the future never mind the big lads. |

They were good signings at the time cos we needed a half back pairing and both Wheeler and Lester maintained form in 1997. |

Will always remember him scoring under the sticks at Hudds and celebrating by booting an up and under to win us the promotion. Good player at that level. |

Didnt Wheeler find himself out of the team mostly, with players like Liddiard operating at 6 and Lester moving to 7? |

| Quote berro's best mate="berro's best mate"many a day has gone were i thought that fc would NEVER be able to sign players of such quality..............the days of shane endacott,gavin lester and dave moffat are well and truelly over,our last 2 years have gone tits, no doubt about it, but hopefully that was down to bad management, wether on the field or in the boardroom, we will never know...but we seem to have really hit the nail on the head with this years recruitment...a class prop is what we wanted, and did we get it??? oh yes we did....a scrum half?? we got arguably the best english one available...experiance??? wholly sh*tballs, we got that too in fitzgibbon.....no team in our position(3rd bot) cud have picked up such players i am sure.......hell, look at the red and whites... they cant sign one of them never mind all three of them
 and they finished fourth....just says to me that whatever has gone on in the last two seasons bad or not, we still are a big draw where players are concerned....we are a big club,a big draw...and we always will be....c'mon u uuuuulllaaaaaa!!!!

Later in the season Wheeler spent most of his time at hooker. Cant remember which team but he also ended up playing at a lower level in this country. |

I remember Wheeler having a good game at hooker in the Craven park derby that year and setting up the winning try for TV near the end.
We had a major turnover of players that year. |
